: This is a weird sitituation, every thing is hooked up but not boost?!?!?!?
Turbomaker 03-01-2003, 08:06 PM OK every thing is hooked up and when in netural, i will open up the throtel body all the way and let it go and I can feel good pressure comming out of the blow off valve. I am truly stumped. I looked for all the leaks in the piping but I can' t find any, and when I take off the pipe from the turbo intake the turbo spins at idle. Any ideas I mean any ideal will help thanks.
Jackson Diamond 03-01-2003, 08:16 PM is your blow off valve tightened down? You could be losing all your boost throught the BOV if it is too weak
can you hear the turbo spool when you step on the gas?
Rockwood 03-01-2003, 08:28 PM in nuetral or when driving? in nuetral, you will not make much more than 1-2 psi, tops. there just isnt enough load on the engine to make boost.
djisnx2000 03-01-2003, 08:55 PM That's right, take a drive 'round the corner and see what happens, it there's still absolutely no boost, I would look toward the wastegate (that would kept opened all the way) or bad turbo that just doesn't spin.
Turbomaker 03-01-2003, 09:25 PM I am talking about when I drive. I tightend up my bov but nothing I can hear teh turbo spin, and their are not leaks, in the exhaust before the turbo either.
COULD IT BE THE BIG HOSE THAT RUNS TO THE PIPE BEFORE THE TURBO AND AFTER THE MAF. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE BREATHER HOSE I AM TALKING ABOUT THE ONE THAT COMES OF THE BACK OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD.
Rockwood 03-02-2003, 04:19 PM uhhh, yeah, that is your idle air inlet. it is kind of important. is your car idling like crap too? that would make a huge air leak dude.
Turbomaker 03-02-2003, 04:28 PM yeah i have it connected but I was just wondering. but when I disconnect it the car shuts down. Am i suppose to have it pluged, because if i do that the car will die.
Rockwood 03-02-2003, 06:32 PM it should be conected to your intake piping somewhere, usually into the IC pipe right before the TB.
Turbomaker 03-02-2003, 07:11 PM ohh so it is suppose to go some where the system gets pressurized when under boost.
Rockwood 03-02-2003, 07:16 PM no, that doesnt matter. it is just easier to plug into there. it is only used when idling, but if oyu have it plugged into nothing, it leaks like crazy.
Turbomaker 03-02-2003, 08:03 PM but do you think that is the reason i am not boosting?
Rockwood 03-03-2003, 11:50 AM could be. where is it plugged in right now?
Turbomaker 03-03-2003, 12:37 PM Before it was infront of the turbo but now i put it where the system is pressuized when under boost. I put it infront of the tb.
