does anybody know how to remove broken crossmember bolts? i have 1 that is busted off i know i can drill that out but the other 3 will not come out. i can turn them but the whole fitting and everything turns with it and they will not come out. i need to get it off to change my motor mount. i even took it to a mechanic because i didn't really want to mess with it and he couldn't get them to come out either. he told me to go to an autobody shop and see if they could do it. is this what i need to do? or is there a certain trick to get them out?

You can try to stick like a fork or prybar under the lip of the bolt head and put downward pressure, while at the SAME time trying to loosen the bolt w/ a socket (and preferably a impact gun).
(I didn't think the crossmember bolts had fittings?)
Good Luck.

Sounds like the tach-welded nuts have broken loose. I had to cut an "access hole" to get to the front ones...mine stripped and after retapping I still didn't have enough thread. I ended up adding a nut on top of the stripped, tach-welded nut.

...also, spray it with Zep or a similiar penetrating oil and let it soak.

If after soaking the bolts with a penetrating oil (Liquid Wrench, etc.) they still won't loosen, try applying heat to them with a propane torch. BE VERY CAREFUL WHERE YOU AIM IT!
Heat will usually expand the metal and make the nut loosen on the bolt.
Good luck...
Can you post a few pictures of the problem??

Like I said, I had to cut an "access area" to get to the tach-welded nuts. Last resort: cut the heads off, take them out thru the access hole, order new hardware.
