: Engine Install.
200sxsr20de 03-06-2003, 01:11 PM Hey guys, alright as quite a few of you know now I'm going turbo. And have planned on it for a while now. I've had all the parts... minus the ic and piping and the motor and ecu in my actual posession. I've been waiting on Jason from JGYcustoms to work on my car since late November and still I have not seen my way into his shop. So none the less I'm giving it until the end of this month and them I'm just saying send me the stuff and I'll find someplace else to do it. The thing I'm interested in would be is anybody interested in helping with this if I just get the things sent here? I know as is... not too much about engine installs and all that so I wouldn't be much help to myself and not many shops around here even know what GTi-R is, so they're not really any help. Anyone interested please let me know. I have a whole load of things to install to my car and am getting kinda bored with waiting while I know I've spent so much money to just let things sit in my room and in various other places. I know Ralphy and Joel both already offered to help. Just trying to see who else would be interested. Thanks guys and I'll keep you posted on how things go.
David

Slow 96R 03-07-2003, 03:59 PM Since this seems to be going into the direction of us doing a motor swap, should I start SERiously looking for a storage big enough for a car? Are U guys down for this? GTIRoids

200sxsr20de 03-07-2003, 07:26 PM This isn't final still... but I mean I have spring break coming up at the end of this month and I won't be needing the car that much except for work during those 9 days. So I'm hoping to get it done that way. I'm just so tired of waiting. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for the support as always.
David

200sxsr20de 03-09-2003, 01:22 PM Alright, time for an update guys. I made the call this morning to Jason about the whole situation. He didn't answer so I left a message describing the situation and what I'm going to do. I'm looking to get a phone call either tonight or tomorrow about it. Then I'll know for sure. But as far as what is going on I told him I need to know asap cause of spring break coming up in two weeks and wanting to get it done during that time frame so I'm not carless for more than a week during school. if he can't I'm going to have the engine, fuel rail, and ic shipped down here and I'm gonna try and have a huge geekout to get this baby turboed and running. The parts list for what I have to install include
ES Shifter Bushing
Place racing Motor Mounts
Fidanze Lightweight Flywheel
ACT Stage 3 Street Strip Clutch w/ Heavy Duty Pressure Plate
GReddy Full Auto Timer (Turbo Timer)
GReddy Profec B
Cobra MAF
JWT POP Charger
MSD 50lb. Injectors
Aeromotive Adjustable FPR
Lo-tek Gauge Pod w/ Autometer Cobalt A/F Ratio, Boost and Vac/ and Fuel Pressure gauges
Full Turbo Back 3" Exhaust w/ N1 courtesy of Daddy Dre
Walbro 255 High pressure Fuel Pump
The things I still need to have shipped to me would be the:
GTi-R Engine at Jason's
Forge Front Mount IC
FTF/JGY Fuel Rail
And the JWT 4 Bar/50lb./Cobra MAF ECU Andreas is still holding until I send him my my core.
So I basicly have everything already. The only thing I'll need to get if I get everything shipped here would be the piping for the IC and maybe a few misc. pieces, just oem parts for the swap. Also I'd need to find a place where all of this can be installed and taken care of in a timely matter. Thats the main reason why I consulted Jason in the first place, just to get it all taken care of at one place that I knew could get the job done right. But I've found this customer isn't top priority due to the 4 months of ok next weekend we'll do this. So it's time for this to get done and be boostin past all these ricers around here. Thanks for all the support and I'll keep you guys posted on everything as soon as I'm finding them out.
David
Slow 96R 03-09-2003, 10:08 PM OK 2 ?
1 You are aware that you will need to drill the flywheel unless it's designed for the GTIR motor. Jason meantioned something to me about this when he did my car.
2 Did you get the 50# injectors from JWT? They will need some type of signal thingy done to them. They will also need to be shaved to fit the GTIR fuel rail. Or are U using another fuel rail? We may have some piping left over after coolgear does my IC piping. Well check out the injectors and make sure everything is ready to go with them.
200sxsr20de 03-10-2003, 06:36 AM Yeah, the holes where the flywheel bolts on have to be enarged to accomodate for the gti-r. And the fuel rail I'm ordering will work with the 50lb inj.
