: Couple of T28 questions??????
2xSE-R 03-21-2003, 04:53 PM Just got a couple of T28 questions:
What is the max psi that a T28 can run?
Where is the best place to buy a reliable T28/manifold?
What is a good price to pay for a T28 - I've been told that $400 - $500 is a good price for a T28/manifold.
Is the T28 a ball bearing turbo? I think so, I just figured that while I'm asking a whole bunch of stupid questions, I'd ask this too.
Thanks, in advance, for the help.
97SE-R C2 03-21-2003, 05:40 PM Its not a Ballbearing turbo unless you find one from I believe an S15. May be wrong there though. 15psi is as far as I will go with mine and thats just for short periods of time. Pricewise I'd say for a good condtion used setup look at spending close to 1200-1800. That will include most of the actual turbo stuff you need. Fuel managment/Exhaust/DP/injectors/MAF/etc.... usually come seperate.
NiceGuy 03-21-2003, 05:58 PM You can get a brand new T28 and manifold from Louis Anaya for about $1000.
He's got the T28 on sale for 638.95, and the GTiR manifold for 299.00

whitehawk 03-22-2003, 08:14 AM You can also get the GT28 which IS ball bearing. The compressor side is the same as the gti-r and you can choose from a 64 a/r or 86 a/r exhaust side.
sonnypippo 03-24-2003, 12:23 PM is anyone here running the GT28? i'd like to know more about it...
TurbochargedSER 03-24-2003, 12:41 PM The GTiR T28 can push up to 18 psi on an SR20. That can net about 300 whp. That is really pushing the turbo though. It is a non ball bearing turbo.
The GT28 is a ball bearing T28 with the same compressor as the GTiR T28 but it has the smaller .64 A/R turbine housing.
Serban 03-24-2003, 12:45 PM Try to find the part number for the manifold, I think you can get it from the dealer for $250-275.
sonnypippo 03-24-2003, 08:42 PM can any dealer get the gti-r manifold? i thought it had to be imported...

So the GT28 has a lower flow rate but is ballbearing so I assume it will push more WHP at higher levels of boost but the GTI-R T28 will make more power at lower boost? Or am I way off????

Where can you find the GT28? What does it come off of and how much does it cost as opposed to the $400 it would cost to get the T28 trbine?

Victorious 03-25-2003, 01:44 PM I don't know that much about turbo's. However, I do know that the GTIR T28 will make more power than the GT28, because the GTIR turbo has a larger turbine housing.

Who is Louis? Sorry - probably a dumb question. Remember, I'm relatively new here. How much is he selling them for.

So, Louis would probably be the person quoted above me. Nevermind with the previous "Louis" question.

Thats wrong cause I believe the gt28 can make up to 400whp where the t28 can only go to 300whp.
myprojectB13 03-25-2003, 07:36 PM So are the turbine housings interchangeable between the GT28 and the GTIR T28? Could I use my extrude honed housing to get 33lbs/min of flow from the GT28 w/ .86 housing, with ball bearing spool up and longevity?
Jonathon
whitehawk 03-26-2003, 10:17 AM If the housing will work you will surely get that kind of flow. That would be a great set up.
