: Pacesetter SS
gb95se-r 03-23-2003, 05:25 PM Hey guys hows it going. I have a pacesetter ss and it hits on my heat shield b/c it is longer than the stock bar. The shop that installed it trimmed the heat shield, but it still bangs the heat shield. Its not that big of deal, not loud or anything, just curious guys if there is anyway to fix this problem? Thanks guys
200sx-97-SE-R 03-23-2003, 09:38 PM I just took off all the heatshields when I installed my pacesetter ss. I've been without pretty much all the heatshieds on or around the cat for about a year now and have had no problems. So you could try that. They're pretty easy to remove.
metro_se-r 03-24-2003, 11:29 AM get rid of the heatshield, I didn't bother using mine when I installed the header. Also, the heatshield on the cat completely fell off (it was rusted out) when we sawzalled the mid section.

You may be the biggest rice boy in the whole world. Stickers on your car is not a mod. You can do what ever you want with your car....but cars like yours give imports a bad name.

u must be a total idiot. and for someone who's a performance "expert" you should know that a header frees up more hp then an exhaust.

Actually I do know that. If you were smart...you would know it is a waste of money to buy a header if you are going to turbo charge your car. That is my reasoning for not buying a header. Oh and my intake was given to me...so that wasnt a waste of money either.
red95ser 03-30-2003, 04:04 PM Back to the topic: I took a ball-pean hammer and "messaged" my heat shield until my short shifter didn't hit it, you might try that.
98SERwTricks 03-30-2003, 04:09 PM My pacesetter hits the heatshield a little, but I don't care...

so i guess you'll change the exhaust from a 2.25" piping to 3" piping once you go turbo?
SR20steve 03-31-2003, 02:37 PM Did you guys actually have to unbolt the exaust to get to the heatshield? Because I just bought a Pacesetter SS, and I don't see any otherway to get it out of there. Someone enlighten me.
Crimson_Phoenix 03-31-2003, 03:15 PM 12" tach... Fuckin priceless. :D
That is a great sig...

Very good. That were my plans exactly.
maxximtl 04-01-2003, 06:44 PM An alternative to banging the hell out of the heatshield is to shim it down on the mounts using washers. By adding more washers, you can't move the heatshield lower. It is a slightly more elegant solution than breaking out the hammer. ;)
96se-rdriver 04-03-2003, 05:59 PM Besides all the BS in this thread how did you like the header i was thinking about getting one, was the gain impresive?...the HS is just to damn expensive.....12" tach hahaha.......
