I got my 1991 G20 a couple of months ago and was very happy. It was fairly quick and handled better than any 4 door I've ever driven. I bought a Hot Shot header and CAI, which have not been installed yet. I also bought a new set of grippy tires. Just as I was taking the tires to be put, on my motor started knocking. Damn! No one in Lawrence, KS wants to take apart my motor to replace the rod, berring, or whatever the problem is. They do however want to charge me 3 grand to put in a used motor w/ 100,00+ miles. A little pricy, I think.

I am also getting a set of 2 UR pulleys. What I want to know is how will the car feel with my mods on? I know that I can expect that these, along with advancing the timing, will give me about 25 whp, but what I don't know is how does 25 more whp feel. Will I notice a major difference?

Get an SR20 from Japan if you can.
You wont regret it.

25hp will feel real good.
Its a good wake-up call for the motor.

I have a 93 G20. Its stock right now but a BLAST to drive because of the handling.

damn for 3g's i know a place you can get a det shipped for about 1400 and anyone in your area that knows sr20's should be able to do the swap in about 3-5 hours of coarse thats if you have all parts needed.i know i can take a sr20 out and put another one in and have it runnin in a few hours

one more thing if i was gonna swap a motor just a regular sr20de for you i would charge 500 and you could prob. get a jdm sr20 for about 600-800

it seriously just sounds like something knocking in your engine bay. its very very very hard to miss. and the frequency is relative to rpms, similar to a large baseball card in a large set of spokes.

Alright, thanks. I am hearing something a little similar to that but I am not losing any power anywhere in my RPM's so I'm 90% sure its an exhaust leak in the header between the primary and secondary.

Ju§tin Hey justin i heard that exhaust leak also, it does sound like my engine knocking but i had put my hand under the exhaust manifold and revved it a few times and i could feel a slight breeze. I put some putty and it reduced the knock sound. Guess it's time for a header.......

Trutru, but my turbo shit is going on pretty soon hopefully, and I won't be needing a header or this leaky CRAP manifold. :D Just need to save up for the damn intercooler.

Did it scare the shit out of you as it did me? When i 1st heard it i was pissed i thought they sold me a bum SR20. I've been driving around thinking my engine was knocking for like the past month and a half........

Oh man I was freaking out. It first happened when I was racing this new Prelude on the way home from work one night. I was like "WTF this is a sign...NO RACING!" Buy yes, it was and still is really disturbing to hear that sound. I still wonder if it something more Se-rious.
