: N20 in Auto's
Nburwell 04-03-2003, 09:25 PM As of now, I'm just researching this but I'm looking for anyone with an auto on here with nitrous. I will be using it mainly for the track only and nothing else. I'd like to get in the low 15's or high 14's and I really don't think that is feasable with just the basic bolt on's and maybe cams as well. I won't be modding my ride for a while, so I have the time to do the research, I'm just trying to get some opening ideas and comments on those who use nitrous in their ride. Thanks in advance.

Thrillseeker197 04-03-2003, 10:05 PM I don't see it being a problem using the juice on a auto. It may actually be better....but just don't run a BIG shot. 50 shot should do you fine. Get Intake/headers/exhaust....you'll hit 14's no problem IMHO.
Nburwell 04-03-2003, 10:28 PM Yeah my brother (cburwell) and I were discussing that tonite. I probably would start off with a 30-35 shot and go no higher then a 50 shot. I don't want to kill my engine. Thanks for the quick response though.
nx2krider93 04-03-2003, 10:46 PM I would like to juice my auto but then again I don't want to kill the tranny... But if you do it let me know how it works out:)
Nburwell 04-03-2003, 10:56 PM As long as you don't go with a 75 shot or more of nitrous I really think you'll be fine. Thats the main reason why I'm only gonna go with a max shot of 50 in my ride so I don't mess up my tranny and/or engine.
nx2krider93 04-03-2003, 11:00 PM have you looked at any kits?
Yeah I think my tranny can hold a 50 shot but who know for how long...
Nburwell 04-04-2003, 12:36 AM If I were to go with any kit, the Zex kit would be my first choice. That's why I would work my way up...I would start off with a 30-35 shot and then gradually work up...though if I was running decent times at the track I would probably just stick with the 30-35 shot and wouldn't go higher.
AaroNX 04-04-2003, 03:17 AM I am running a 65 shot in mine. Love it!!!
cburwell 04-04-2003, 07:56 AM Look what what I started! :D
I suggested the Zex wet kit to him because he wouldn't be spraying anything over a 50 or 55 shot, and the zex kit seems like it's simple to install and operate.

Keep in mind, the Zex kit doesn't make 55hp at the wheel, it makes it at the flywheel. The NX and NOS kits will make the advertised power AT THE WHEEL. Big difference.
AaroNX 04-04-2003, 11:33 AM What??? How does that work? I am using the same jet for my nos kit (dry) that my buddy is using with a zex kit and the zex says its for a 65 shot. What would it be on mine? The jet is a .036.
Johnny wangwang 04-05-2003, 09:29 AM AaroNX whats your fastest time with all thats done to your car?
Also, I was wondering the same thing but you should start a new thread and ask
AaroNX 04-05-2003, 07:33 PM I haven't been to a good track with my car. The other tracks closer to here are all around half a second faster than mine. The best it has done is a 9.2 at mine. So it SHOULD be in the high 8 range at some of the other tracks around. Someday soon me and a few friends are going to Alabama I think and try one of the tracks there. About the jets I have posted asking people to list what size jet equalled what size shot and not very many people replied.

Well, you're kinda hiijacking this guy's thread. Just call your kit manufacturer, they can give you the jet sizes.
b16killr 04-10-2003, 12:57 AM i got a 50 shot on mine on a auto and it works fine.i have it for almost two years now."naturallyNOSpirated1.6"on the backwindow
boss_pc2 04-11-2003, 11:44 PM i think the best setup is a nos kit with nx soneoids.
fatboyz921 04-16-2003, 09:01 PM It depends on how much you use and how big of a shot. A guy on g20.net just blew his tranny with a 50 zex kit. He had it for a couple months like 4-6. So you should be fine and jsut dont use it stupid.

I was looking into the Zex nitrous kit too. I really don't want to dump money into a whole new transmission because I blew it using nitrous.
dj4monie 04-21-2003, 05:47 PM Your automatic should be able to use up to 75hp but you might want to look into adding additional bands and clutches to it for countinued use long term.
If you keep it around 50hp, it will not present any additional wear to your transmission.
Now...
Best setup would be NOS nozzles and NX solnoids? How about no NOS anything and complete NX kit! The NOS "Soft Plume" nozzle is a DIRECT copy of NX's "Shark" nozzle and very much like The Nitrous Work's Power Wing.
Also NX kits do rated power at a low 700psi of bottle pressure and usually increase power an additional 20% at 1000psi.
Every NOS or ZEX kit I have installed below 900psi does NOT make rated power. NOS makes rated power at 900psi and increaes to about 10% additional at 1000psi.
Every car I have done with The Nitrous Works or Nitrous Express have had faster trap speeds. Enough said...
All dry kits behave the same way. They do rated power at 900psi but with less torque than wet kits.
Yes the ZEX is easy to install. In fact both ZEX wet and dry kits are easy to install, mostly because you don't have to put your solnoids together and find a place to install them which knocks off about an hour of install time.
2xSE-R 04-22-2003, 08:28 AM civicsRslow used a ZEX 55 shot for a long time before he did his swap from a GA16/Auto to his SR20, and it never gave him any problems.
