I want to do this, but need to know the simple answers to the important questions first

i know there are 2 lines (tube piping).... that fat one that has its access port near the firewall on it, and then there's the skinny one that is pretty much right there in your face when you open the hood (and a little bit higher with its access port)....

so......which is which? i think im supposed to recharge through the high pressure one, and not low pressure one.

anyone who's done it, speak now or forever leave me confused

Craig,

I made the switch to R-134a a few years ago on my '92 SE-R. To do it right, you must upgrade a few parts of the orginal R-12 A/C system. Nissan has a retro-fit kit with all the parts you'll need. At the time, Brown & Brown Nissan had the best price on this kit, but I'd check around.

I'm aware of the dirt-cheap kits that are available, but few have had real success with them.

As a proud do-it-yourselfer, I do all the maintenance on my car, but this is a job best left to a professional. They have the right tools for the job. I can't recall how many times I've heard of someone attempting to do it themselves, only to have a problem creep up later on. It's been about three years since the switch and I've never had a problem.

thanx bro, i was told there was a kit....ive seen a couple..

has anyone used that one theyve got at walmart or discount or autozone (the kits are everywhere)....its the retro kit pack, i just want to know that the only thing thats needed to charge it with r134 are those little adapter pieces you screw on to your existing access ports....so that you can use the recharge hose connector they supply??

ive heard of successful stories, and unsuccessful ones too....but its not bad enough to take to an a/c shop just yet.

I used the blue hose thing on my nx it worked great because the a/c was empty......then a few weeks later I blew the engine....

i'm about to use the DAP 35$ conversion. I know many people that have used it and never have heard of any problems. I am about to convert mine over and do a leak test b/c I have a leak somewhere as well. I'll let you know what I find Craig...
