: Lightened Flywheel v. UR Pulleys

My motor died so I got a JDM. It won't be installed until the end of May. Going to be doing the swap at Ben92SentraSE-R's place. He told me that now would be a great time to do a lightened flywheel, and new clutch.

I don't think I'll do the clutch because this one was replaced before I bought the car and I'm not putting down a whole lot of horse.

I have the HS CAI and header sitting in the boxes in my garage waiting eagerly, like me, for the new motor.

My question is, if I can only afford one more mod by the time the motor goes in should it be the Fidanza Flywheel or the UR pulleys.

With what I have read the UR pulleys give you about 5 hp and the Flywheel gives you better throttle response and faster revving.

Which of the two would you guys recommend and why?

Thanks,
-Allen-

I have both and they are both great. I would say do the flywheel. The 4 pulley set is a pita to install when the motor is in the car but still takes less time then replacing the flywheel.

I also have both, but if I were gonna pick either/or, I'd definitely go with the flywheel. Cost more? Yes. Bigger difference? Absolutely! You'll especially notice a difference in first gear, some in second, not so much in 3rd, probably not in 4th or 5th. In first gear, you'll get to redline MUCH quicker than with stock flywheel.

I'd do the flywheel for 2 reasons

1. Now's a good time, since you'll have the tranny off. You can install the pulleys later and its not extra work. The flywheel later would be extra work. Think about getting a JWT pressure plate, unless you want to do your own clutch job later.
2. You'll notice a bigger difference with the flywheel.

I concur with all of the afformentioned posts. It will cost you more to pull down the tranny later on, rather than do it now while you have it outside the car. Pullies are nice, but the gain is small but true.

Thanks guys, sounds unanimous.
Fidanza Flywheel it is.

Next question, where can I get one for a good price?

I know that there is a group buy on them but the deadline is tomarrow and I don't have the cash just yet.

Thanks again,

I don't know about a 'good price', but NISMO sells them. Perhaps a call to Courtesy Nissan would be a good place to start.
