Cause my friens with a Civic has a short shifter and it hurts the shit outta my damn hand! And it shifts way to hard, like i went from 1st to 2nd and it grinded. It was $100 from summit racing. I've heard good things about it. Smooth shifts, adjustable throws, easy install. B&M is good quality (so is the SMC) but is pricey. i heard the $tillen one is crappy. are you sure your friend put enough grease on the shifter when he installed it? i had to put more on mine *** i had the same prob w/ it being difficult to change gears.
