: Header Install almost done.
focus 04-16-2003, 11:57 AM Glad we had some nice weather. Played hooky from work today. Got the EGR loose all the heatshield bolts but one, cat and down pipe are out ,currently soaking the cat bolts untill my wife comes back with a #3 bolt extractor. Can't beleive I lost the extractor with one heat shield bolt left. I could have this puppy running today. Can't wait.
metro_se-r 04-16-2003, 12:31 PM yeah, have fun. i actually had to torch my bolts off. great fun!
focus 04-16-2003, 01:08 PM Yeah the cat bolts might not be possible. I cut the heads off (what was left of them) and got it loose from the down pipe. So I have about 1/2 inch of thread to use my bolt extractor on. If all else fails might have to get a new cat.
Where is the wife I need that bolt extractor.
akapaul 04-16-2003, 01:10 PM Good luck on the install. Keep us posted. :)
red95ser 04-16-2003, 01:56 PM When I did mine getting it off was cake (the cat bolts were already loose from putting on short shifter a few months earlier). It was the putting it back on that was a PITA. Good luck!
focus 04-19-2003, 03:02 PM Finished this Morn. The good everthing fit very well. No broken studs (one backed out of the head). The bad, I had to drill out the cat bolts that sucked. Nice power gain, pulls hard from 4k on up. Also my exhaust seems more mellow, could be I had a leak at the cat. red95 just like you said putting the cat in was a pain as usual.
red95ser you running a PS cat back? How do you like it?
red95ser 04-20-2003, 12:21 PM I am running the ps catback. I like the sound and the power gain (and the price of course), but i've only had it for a few months and it is already rusting.
Also when I put it on it would bang around alot, I've since taken some of the slack out of the hangers by wrapping them with some metal wire, to keep it from moving around so much.
I also think taking the yellow tape on the tip off and painting inside the tip where it is yellow is a must!
NateSR20 04-30-2003, 03:09 PM I had to replace the old hangers with new ones to "reduce" vibrations from the pacesetter...def take the yellow tape off, and the yellow on the inside goes away a little bit after a while. It does sound good, but I dont think the muffler flows good enough. when I had the stock piping with no muffler attached it seemed a tad faster.
focus 04-30-2003, 03:45 PM Well I picked up a MR stainless set-up. I'll let you know what I think of it when it gets here.
NOZ34ME 04-30-2003, 04:19 PM Definitely let us know! If you bought this on ebay, I may have already e-mailed you through them to find out how you like it.
I've got a thread on this forum or the other Nissan forum asking anyone how they like it.
Do you know if the 1.6 and 2.0 have the same exhaust from cat-back?
I've got the 2.0.
Thanks for any information you can relay.
focus 04-30-2003, 07:31 PM I will let everyone know when I get it in. More than likely next week some time. Cali to Mass takes some time.
And yes it should be the same for a 1.6 and 2.0. I have the 2.0 as well. I would have prefered a 2.25 but the 2.5 should be fine.
focus 05-06-2003, 07:52 PM Big box waiting when I got home today. Looks like a N1 style can really nice welds, very good quality. All the hardware with gaskets are included. The only thing I don't like is the pipeing steps down at the axle back section. Then goes back to the 2.5 inch pipe. Why I have no idea.
Anyone wanna host some pictures for me?
I should have it installed Wed afternoon if it isn't raining.
akapaul 05-06-2003, 07:56 PM focus: pm me and i'll set up a hosting account for you later tonight

focus 05-09-2003, 02:29 PM Well went to install it today. The axle pipe is right up against the floor and the heatshields had to be removed to clear the resonator. Also the muffler hangers do not appear to be correct. It is not going to work!
I sent Megan an e-mail threw e-bay we will see what happens. PITA.
akapaul 05-09-2003, 03:05 PM sorry to hear that :( was it designed for your car

Damn sorry to hear that bro... *** to go off somethin else, they had a header for my car and were on ebay and selling them individually... Luckily I saw a pic of it and saw it does not fit my car... Rather after numerous emails he was the one askin me Qs... Basically the header they had, he "thought" its for a celica.... First told me its for a Corolla S only, when i told him, its missin the 02 sensor flange, he proceeded to tell me it was not for S but CE and LE only... Well tht was a very illiterate comment, considerin they all have the same exact 1zzfe engine... Needless to say im now waitin for the HS header... I find these guys to be kinda weird and lacking knowledge about any car or their products, atleast Toyotas... Not tryin to rip on em or nethin, but listin my experience and lookin out for my fellow se-r peeps :)...
focus 05-09-2003, 03:18 PM Yes it seems like it was designed for my car. The axle pipe isn't bent corectly hits the unibody, and the hangers on the muffler arent correct. It hits the bumper cover and is not centered. The whole system is really forcing the hangers down as well. I did get it bolted up and took some pics for reference. Started it nice and mellow what a shame. Now I hope that Megan is decent about this?
