: Piston return spring???
FastNX 04-21-2003, 01:16 AM My engine is making a funny noise, my brother said it is probably the piston return spring. I am inclined to beleive him since the factory uses green springs when it assembles the motors, i think i should put purple springs in to help to get back down at high rpms.
Do i need to pull the head to do this? My brother says it should only take an afternoon to do.
TIA

s13sr20chris 04-21-2003, 08:08 PM piston return spring? i'm drawing a blank here. valve spring, piston pin, piston ring, rocker stoppers maybe? what exactly is a piston return spring fellas. i promise i'm not an idiot.
Naghebe 04-21-2003, 08:13 PM Piston springs or Valve springs?????
nissan_dan 04-21-2003, 08:24 PM Yeah I'd pull the head, while your at it when it the last time you changed your muffler bearings? :D
Daley 04-21-2003, 08:33 PM yeah...my muffler bearing looked like this when i replaced it:

damn...bad shape if you ask me...
but as far as the piston return springs...i'd say go for the reds...they have the most springular properties...
a word to the wise: replace those when you change the clutch belt...it will save you money and time in the long run.
Mel E Bog 04-22-2003, 02:51 AM Don't forget the blinker fluid. I always see monkeys neglect to change the blinker fluid when they swap muffler bearings.
s13sr20chris 04-22-2003, 12:58 PM oh heh, i thought it was some kind of canadian slang or something. oops

CharlieH98 04-27-2003, 12:01 PM That muffler bearing looks ok, but the muffler is shot. Make sure the clutch cylinder is full.
Cheers,
Charlie :)
U12 2NR 04-27-2003, 03:03 PM man..i never really get a good laugh out of internet things. But when someone said check the muffler bearing and then the next guy posted a pic of the muffler bearing..i started laughing my ass off. Now that is some funny shit.
