Does anyone know of a good method for doing this?

I've lubed everything but it's been a while and I sure would hate to put some excess wear on some brand new parts if it could be avoided.

Thanks....Jody

Pull the spark plugs, remove the fuel pump fuse, and disconnect the ignition coil.

i helped a friend with put a 306 in his mustang, and we used a tool that went down where the distributor is driven off the oil pump and it turns it directly. instant oil pressure with NO uneccessary movement of unlubed parts. wish somehting like that could be made for the SR20

I just let it turn over a few times, hook everything back up and start the motor. I do this in turn with filling up the oil filter when I do my oil changes on my Frontier and Se-r.

I aways remove the plugs , disconnect the fuel pump and distribitor , fill the oil filter with oil , pump some oil into the holes in the engine where the oil filter screws onto , put the full oil filter on then crank it until the oil light goes out ...Then put the plugs in and hook everything up and start away !

I just primed mine a few days ago. I did as I mentioned above, cranked it for like 15 seconds and let the starter rest for about 30 seconds. I repeated this 3 times, then started the car, and the car still knocked for a few seconds before it smoothed out.
