Exactly - kind of like why Nissan put a 140mph speedometer on the B14's when they won't go past 109 anyway.

ok cool....I'll get the 240 then....I thought it was higher...but I figured since autometer is kinda domesticky...I though maybe the higher one was for imports since they could get hotter running at high RPM vs. a 6000rpm redline like domestics....
thanks for your info

I am sure on some cars you could get temps higher then 240 but that would just be abusive for a street car. If you see 240 on the street or track I would stop pushing the car.

kenley,
Where are you going to hook that gauge up? How will it get the temp signal?

For some reason the 280 looks like it has a better temp range in multiples of 2 degrees as opposed to 5 degrees for the 240.

i don't know...but I have a short and it seems like a pita to get so I decided to just run guages in the dash since my stock temp, gas and tachometer...don't work...I figure for the price of getting my short fixed...a couple bucks more and I get a custom dash...which in turn would be lighter than yours...;) j/k...I have a long way to go but I did take off my falling roof and it looks better...gonna paint it black....I'm sure it has instructions to hook it up...

I use a mechanical sunpro 240*F temp gauge. My gauge is within 2*F of my techtom so it is pretty accurate.

I have the 240 in my car as well. I can't see they use of anything more. I also like that the face is cleaner on the 240 scale.
