: Belt squeaking?

theres a loud belt squeaking when ive started my classic the last 2 times...its near the front left side of my engine bay, any idea which belt it is?

Oh my, there are only two man. One is for the AC and alternator and the other is for the power steering and water pump. Take your pic. Both belts cost under $20 so I would just replace them both.

the belt is probably just loose enough to where it slips and that is what you hear. try loosening the bolt on the top alternator bracket where you can move the alternator to tighten the belt and take a small bar and pull the alternator back with the bar then tighten the bolt back up.

that was what happened to mine. the belt was just a little loose and it was squeeking really bad and it was a brand new belt. so i took the bar and did that and tightened it up and havent heard it since. i also did it when i put my new engine in when i put the old alternator on the new engine and it hasnt squeeked yet. it is just to hard to pull it tight enough by hand. so i used a bar
worked great. if it doesnt solve the problem then you probably need new belts
