Shows how important a well balanced car is to me. I drove one of the turbo cars for a few laps (the ECU shorted out), and it was a handful to get it to come out of the turns and not just slide off the track due to the lack of traction.

A big thimbs up to the Honda-tech guys. The SE-R guys had been undefeated for a couple years (we had beaten the DSMs and Hondas several times) before this event. A really huge thumbs up to Shaggy and Amber and their car; 3rd time on a road course, full interior, street suspension (AGXs and GCs). I'm not looking forward to that thing actually being stripped for the track...

Chad, you're insane. I love to drive, but going all over the East Coast to race seems a little like overkill to me. Do you get extra points for "Longest Drive" for the Honda Challenge Series ;)

That being said, the Honda guys stepped it up in the 4th session, otherwise it would have been all Nissan. But I can say "what if" all day and it doesn't matter, they won it fair and square. Good job HondaTech!

One thing I'm going to be interested in how the staged animosity is going to appear on TV. I hope it's as corny as it seemed in person. I'd prefer to have seen the mutual respect everyone had, and shown how cool everyone really is. A further dividing of the camps isn't needed. I know I have fun hanging out with the Honda guys at the NASA events. It would be a shame for the TV viewers to think that the Honda and Nissan guys can't stand each other...

Although no one likes Andy Hope or that Kojima guy ;)

this is not meant to be cocky at all....i hope it doesn't come off as so....

no the honda-tech guys don't kiss my a$$ unfortunately....
yes i have looked at the times and honda would have lost by the same as we won if i had not busted out that 1.33.333, but hey that's racing/time trialling....

if you were blocking me intentionally i think that is funny cause after i had the top time of the day i was just out there for tv time....i forget how many sessions we had but i think i got the time on my second session out.....after that i was just out there driving 7 tenths....was not going balls to the wall anymore since i was driving from cali to south carolina the night after the event...

but that was fun with the black sentra.....you'd pull maybe 5-10 cars on me down the straight then i'd ride your ass the rest of the way around the track.....if i wanted around you....i would have gotten around you....there was no way i was going to put a pass on you in a turn under HPDE rules and without a point....in DE's i will never pass without a point!!!!!! why? because i'm a safetly nazi....i want to know what you are going to do an i want you to know what i am going to do....yes i was up in your mirrors like a mo-fo and i was watching your mirrors to see if you were checking them....and it didn't look like you were....i just thought you were an inexperienced driver and i definately wasn't going to try to "MIX IT UP" in my daily driver....
some of the passing i saw out there was down right STUPID...like the hairpin turn to the right....i think utrn 3 or 4....i saw people going into that 3 wide with a 4th guy on their butts....hey that's cool if you are racing but we weren't racing...it was a HPDE (high performance drivers experience or education) there were very few of us with a cage and i was not going to mix it up with drivers i have not driven with before...i like to know the habits of my fellow drivers if i'm going wheel to wheel...

i guess i'm just a safetly nazi....maybe that's why i've driven my car home every time....i don't know....

anyways...i had fun out there and that westside story entrance thing was kinda lame...i do wish they would show how well everyone got along....that is how it is suppose to be at a track event....well at least the ones i attend...

Thank you! I was on the sidelines watching Rob and you mix it up, and almost sh*t everytime you came INCHES from my bumper! My car is my daily driver also, so I was not looking forward to any contact!

Their are only a handful of guys I would trust with my turbo car out on the track, and Rob is definitely one of them. He is by no means inexperienced, in fact hes the smoothest/fastest driver I've ever ridden with at a hot lapping event. You can be assured I probably would have turned a 1:40+ second lap compared to Rob's 1:35.3 in my car.

BTW, great driving out there Chad. We'll see you next year for the REMATCH! :D

next year for the rematch??? we are gonna have to wait that long???

We were under HDPE 4 type rules where you can pass in turns according to the drivers meeting. Sometimes in HDPE 4 depending on who instructs it we don't have to worryabout point by's either.

When I was carrying the camera, the producer wanted me to pass as many cars as posible so I obliged him.

The smacktalking stuff was lame and it was embarrising. I hope no one took it seriously.

Brian G. and I were talking to the producers last weekend at the IAS trying to talk them into a rematch. They were sort of interested. It might happen.

Maybe we should orginize our own rematch and invite the magazines and TV. Have HC vs SE-R cup cars and real racing too.
