Hey guys, just wanted to see if I could get a little more info than I found doing searches.
I recently started getting the ebrake and battery lights between 3 and 4k rpm. I did a search and found that this is pretty much a tell tale sign for an alternator begging to be changed. but...... I am still a little confused. Yesterday I went out and put a voltmeter on the battery. it read a little over 12v. I then started the car cranked the heater, turned on the projectors and fog lights and cranked the system. I then put the voltmeter back on the battery and it read between 14 and 15 v with no fluctuation. I went inside for a minute and came back out, realized I left the fog lights on and went to start the car again to do some more testing. It didnt start. If my batt was reading 14 shouldnt it have been charging ? my stereo and accessories worked even though the car wouldnt start. I got a jump and it started right away telling me it isnt a starter problem. I guess what I am trying to ask is if it sounds like I need a new battery, or if anyone has heard of a bad battery causing the ebrake and batt lights to come on? Thanks for any info....... and YES i did do lots of searching.
