Hi All,
I have a problem with my SR20DET and indeed the SR20DE before it.
When cruising along at says 60 km/h in 4th everything is fine, I guess I have my foot only slightly on the pedal, now when I back my foot off the pedal just a little my car jerks forward.
This happens in any gear btw, except 5th, I realise that if you acelerating hard and then back off you should expect your car to jerk forward, but i am not doing that.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Dave

Check for vacum leaks in the intake.

is there any easy way todo that?
or is there another test i can do that will show that as the problem?
also it wouldn't be a motor mount issue would it?
just wanna rule things out!
Cheers

to check for vaccum leaks you can do a few things...first listen for a whistle or hiss, hard to hear sometimes. next you could spray the area's you suspect with soapy water, the soapy water will bubble around a vaccum leak.

sorry to double reply but:
i just went and had a listen, i heard a hissing comming from the back left of the engine (if you are looking at the front of the car)
it wasn't comming from the pcv hose or any of those hoses connected to that same section.
it was almost comming from down the back somewhere..
any ideas to what this is?
I should also mention that my coldstart is really terrible the car sounds like it is about to stall running at about 400 rpms for the first 5 secs of startup when cold... related?
cheers

yews probably related, now that you can hear where you think the noise is coming from, check for any obvious loose vaccum lines or if you think that is coming from the manifold or the block itself spray the soapy water on that area and watch for the bubbles

hrmm its a PITA to get to coz the Topmount is in the way...
is there a list of vacuum lines or some pictures of them? coz the only ones i can see are the ones directly under the IC...
are there more behind the engine?
