Hey guys,

I've seen how a few fellow Classic owners have suspension noises, and I wanted to see if mine was similar. My setup: AGX's, Hyperco 2's, E.S. master kit, new ball-joints, tie-rod ends.

I installed all of it (w/ new rubber, bolts, etc.) about 2 weeks ago, and it sounds like the front it "clanking" some over small bumps. It is very similar to when the front sway bar endlink goes bad (replaced w/ ES ~5 months ago). I put some zip ties around the "dead" coils, and it can't say it helped. Is it more than likely just the bushings sqeeking? I put 2 extra washers on the front struts, which helped; but didn't eliminate it.

I'm just looking for others w/ similar set-ups w/ similar sounds, and possible fixes that worked or didn't.

Thanks,

Josh

P.S. The set-up handles great, but the little noises are annoying.

This is a common problem with progressive springs. The sound is the close coils vibrating against each other. You can reproduce the sound by brushing your fingers across the coils. The problem can be solved by wrapping the coils. You can buy wrap from spring companies or just find that helix wrap that they sell for electrical wiring. Hope this helps.

That was pretty much what I thought, and I am going to look into that wrap. The ironic thing is I suggested the wrap to someone else a couple months ago regarding a similar problem, but I hadn't heard if it was successful.

Thanks,

Josh
