Is it possible to install an aftermarket LSD (Qauife) into the 98-99 transmissions?

Nope. The Quaife ATB was made to install in a VLSD equipped tranny (RS5F32V). It was not made to fit into the non-VLSD SR20 trannys (RS5F32A).

What you need to do is get a 95-97 SE-R tranny for the LSD.

Should the tranny swap be pretty straighforward? Remove and replace?

You need the axles from a 95-97 car also (even though axles from a 91-94 B13 SE-R work also http://laf.cioe.com/~benbobbo/NonCGI/biggrin.gif). Everything else should be pretty straightforward.

Yeah... Naji has a Quaife in his '98 SE-R. But that's not a '98 SE-R tranny in his car, either. =) He had to get a tranny from a '95-'97 SE-R, and then he got the Quaife LSD put in.

That's weird. Is the quaife that much better? If you buy the 95-97 tranny then you get the vlsd with it correct? I guess if you went to all that trouble then you'd wanna hook it up propah.
"propah" is the word mang! My LSD in my 97 tranny is crapping out on me already. I wish I had the $$$ for the Quaife.

So how much ching for the Queef lsd? I heard Nismo makes one too.
The *Nissan Motorsports LSD is a Qauife unit. I think they go for $900-$1200.

Yowzers! I'd only do it if I went to a JDM turbo SR.
I'm swapping the tranny from my not-yet-fixed 93 NX2000 with the one from my 98. I have already taken the trans out and apart to send the gears off to be cryoed and shotpeened. I have also ordered a Quaife LSD/ATB. If you read this http://www.quaifeamerica.com/differentials/diffs.htm you will want one too. http://laf.cioe.com/~benbobbo/NonCGI/smile.gif I got one off of a group deal I found out about at the last minute from Scott Higashi. $895 plus $30 divided by the number of folks in the deal to cover his wire transfer to the UK for the better price. His email addy is SHigashi@el.nec.com in case you are interested. I sent him a check 2 days ago. http://laf.cioe.com/~benbobbo/NonCGI/smile.gif If you like to see some fun pics of the 93 tranny in pieces look in here: http://laf.cioe.com/~benbobbo/opentranny

ROFL They called open diff'z pegleg differentials. Anytime someone says pegleg it's funny. Like when they say "your momma got a pegleg with a kickstand" . WTF does that mean? I don't know leave me alone.
But serioulsy I wish I had enough for one. I can't wait to see my boy Mike with his GS-T so I can ask about his pegleg diff!
