Thanks 4 the heads-up. I would like to have a set for my stock wheels if I can scrape up some extra cash.

I currently have them too in 15". Good for dry and wet pavement BUT not good at all in the snow.

I love my S03's, as long as it's warm out they have plenty of grip. They are pretty noisy though when the tread gets low.

Awesome tire. Great price. I hope the price stays low so that I can easily get another set without hesitation when the time comes.

S-03's are one of the best tires out there, period. So, before anyone gets the flame thrower out, I'm going to point out some things about the tire.

1) The Goodyear GS-D3 is actually rated higher than the S-03. Better dry and wet handling, with more treadware.

2) The S-03 is an absolutely hugely heavy tire. I point this out for the na cars, the turbo monsters and people with lots of na power adds won't notice as much. Let me put it this way: Toyo Proxe T1-S in 195/50/15 is more than 4.5 lb.s lighter than the same sized S-03. Can you say rotating weight? What's the point in buying light weight wheels and then put heavy assed tires on it?

3) Unless you have an upgraded suspension, a really stickey tire is going to make you sea sick. Because the tires stick so well, you'll get more body roll and what not on a stock suspension.

4) People tend to buy more tire than they need, period.

I'm not pissing on the S-03, I think it's one of the best tires out there. I've been researching and emailing for information about light weight wheels and stickey tires for about 3 months now, so this isn't just off the cuff. Some of the material I've posted is based on the opinion/fact from people that have had experience with the Classics and other SE-R's, with all types of tires.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread. The S-03 is a great tire, but there are others that perform at or near the same level and are more applicable to your needs. Right now, the Toyo gets my vote, though I'm now considering the GS-D3's in the mix.

Get what you need, not what you want... sometimes there is a difference.

Mark, have you owned the S-03? Come over to the dark side, trust me. :)

No, Calum, I haven't. I haven't owned any Toyo's or Yoko's either.

I'm upgrading my OEM wheels and tires from the 14x5.5 and 185/60/14's to a light weight 15x6.5 or 15x7 wheel and either 195/50/15 or 205/50/15. Still worried about fitment with the 205's and a stock suspension.

Anyway, that's why I do lots of research. I've asked and received lots of information of other members here and on the mailing list who have driven/own the Classic SE-R and most of the tires out there.

I tend to learn from my betters, especially before I slap my own money down. Of course, I research the crap out of anything I buy, anyway.

Because I have a stock(except for motor mounts) car, a really sticky tire is going to be too much for it. And, sense I never plan on doing any hp add ons, I will focus more lighter wheel/tire combo with good performance. Now, once I upgrade the suspension, I might change my mind.

Until then, I'm going to take this in stages. Besides, tires are a "wear out" commodity. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to have my own set of higher performance tires in the future.

Later,
Mark

Its too bad you don't live close by, I'd let you try mine out. They drive better than they look on paper.
