Yesterday, I installed Nissan OEM spark plug wires on my NX. Annoying idle problems were instantly solved, and I have a smoother distribution of power across the entire RPM range. Took a 40-mile drive to northern NJ last night and opened it up several times. What a difference! I was running Vitek 9.5mm wires. These were overly expensive (I know, stupid mistake). After only one year of use, two of the connections in the plug boots separated, so the boots didn't seat properly on the valve cover (great way for "things" to get inside the engine, I supposed).

The quality of the Nissan wires is outstanding: the connections to the distributor cap are super snug, where the Vitek's always seemed to be hanging off and not making 100% connections. The Nissan wires were pretty cheap too (about $65 compared to over $100 for the Viteks).

I really have to make an effort to stick with OEM parts wherever possible in the future.

Thanks for reading,
Steve

Guys I am glad your NGK wires are working great for you but they did not work so well for me.
Mine started turning yellow where the boot met the wire, for some reason they were not long enough, and after 2 years I started having some idle issues with them. Keep in mind I paid around $60 for the NGK's, I thought they complimented my CAI because they were blue. I call up Courtesy Nissan and got a set of OEM wires, Fitment was superb, the quality of the OEM over the NGk's was day and night. Idle issues was gone and my pocket also liked OEM's at the price of $45.

Yeah, I agree. Plus, you guys that have aftermarket wires, have you dynoed your car on new stock wires vs your aftermarket ones? Most likely not. I believe that there were some dynos backa while ago that showed that the stock wires outperformed all the aftermarket wires that were ava. for our cars. Anyways, I ahd NGK Blues I believe they were, maybe not cant remember, they came on the car when i bought it. well the boot at the bottom around the spark plug broke off on the plug, and before that they had a bad idle. after they broke it go worse and was causing the car to hesitate, and get bad gas mileage (30 highway vs 33-35 with my oem). I replaced with new stockers, and all prolems were fixed, and it pulls harder now too. BTW OEM wires are made by some japanese company, not nissan. Sumitumo I think its called.

yep, that's them

I have the NGK blues on my sentra (came with the car) and you can really tell the quality difference between NGK and stock, with stock winning out

Wasn't there 2 different companies that made the OEM wires for Nissan? I know Sumitumo is one of them but I think Nissan changed to some other company after 93'..Correct me if I'm wrong.

I always run either stock wires or NGK on my cars. They both work great.

NGK's suck. NX95.
What a piece of shit. They always break off in your distributer.

Also the coil wire is soo damn long. It used to leave burn marks where is made contact with my hood.

I was looking for cheap performance all the time when stock wires were the most "trick" out of all the bunch!

Nope, only one company that I have ever heard of, and thats the Sumitumo, and thats the ones that still sell at the dealerships today.

I very recently changed my NGK plugs & plug wires and used NGK this time removing stock plug wires. I can't say I notice a difference performance wise. I can say the stock wire construction is better, but they seem to perform the same to me and the same being "GREAT". I'm happy. Capo, in the future do shop with one of the now many NISSAN websites for discount parts. $65.00 is way high for wires. Heres a NISSAN discount site: :D

www.nissanparts.cc also Scottsdale Infiniti is another popular great source for parts at a discount price.

Thanks for the info on getting the parts cheaper. I will keep that in mind in the future. I (incorrectly) assumed that Nissan prices are the same from dealer to dealer....

Anyway, I believe the wires are made by "Yakima", at least that is what I believe is printed on the new ones. I'll check at lunch time.
