I can't decide between Yokohama ES100 or Falken FK451 tires for my new 17'' rims. Any feedback that I can get from personal experience with these tires would be greatly appreciated. I can't make up my mind, so hopefully you guyz can help me.

I liked my 205/50/15 AVS ES100's. They were good in dry and Wet.

How were they as far as thread wear?

I have 195/50/15's on my car. Just rotated the tires, front to back because they are directional. I honestly saw very minimal differences in wear, and that's only because I was curious to see if there was any. What I mean, is that at first glance, I didn't notice any differences... had to get up close and personal. For a tire that performs better than average in the dry and wet, that's pretty good, imo.

I know nothing about the Falken 451's, though. I know their Azenis are awesome track/performance tires.

Peace Out,
Mark

The fronts worn down alot more than the rear but Thats to be expected with My spirited track driving and the drag strip.

I have had both and I think that the yoks' are a little bit better in that they lasted a little long. They were kinda tricky in the rain at first, but not a big problem. I still have to say the best tire I have had were Toyo Proxes.

I have 205/45/16 ES100s and they're great in the dry, and ok in the rain. They really are bad in the snow (but I knew they would be). They're also bad when it get's below 40 degrees. I guess the rubber is soft and sort of freezes in the cold. I also have only about 10k on em and they probably won't last more than 5k more miles. I do have a turbo though and I'm sure spinning through 1st, 2nd and 3rd doesn't help wear.

I had those Yoko's on my SE-R once. Did like them quite a bit. Never had the Falken's.

I have the Falken Azenis ST-115's on my 17'z now. 215/40/17 and they're actually very good. Good Traction and good Treadwear.....believe its 360. Great traction in Dry, pretty good traction in wet (How great can your traction be in the wet???). Very quiet and if you spin em' they'll catch back on without a Chirp (Thats how quiet). I think the 451's are actually like $3 or $4 dollars more. Besides, I'm the type to try different tires whenever I can, I think I'll try the 451's sometime this year....

My curiosity about the FK451's peaked when I saw in one of my 'tuner' mags, that a Supra, 400hp Evo8 and WRX all had these tires and they gave them a high rating on dry and in the rain. But I just wanted some 'real' world feedback. I see everyone's loving the Yoko's. Anyone gonna give the 451's some props....

I like my ES100's a lot but the only other tires I've ever had on my car were some worn out Potenza's and the Wingfoots I've got on now for winter. I felt that the ES100's appeared to be the best bang for the buck.

Same here. My fiance has a set on her '03 Corolla and they are great for dry and wet weather driving, plus the wear is pretty good on them as well. I would say that she doesn't drive that aggressive, but when I get on it, they're pretty good. I'm a pretty big fan of Yokohama, but I've never tried Falken. :)

I would say the ES100. I have a set on my '99 altima. 205/55/16's anf they are real nice. I have never had the falkens but I did have a set of 18" toyo fz4's and as far as i'm concerned they sucked. Horrible in the rain and dry traction was ok. I mean the were 225/35/18". And if it got chilly they wern't that great either. to make a long story short (too late) I would never buy another fz4.

Want to know one more thing. How is the road noise on these Yokos, turn-in and cornering response and how much miles could I expect to get from them?
