I was wondering, if you were buying a used car with a turbo, is there a way to visually inspect the turbo to make sure its in good condition?? What sort of things should you look for? TIA

Take off the intake pipe (where ambient air is fed into the turbo) and spin the wheel. It should spin pretty freely without any rough feeling. Sorta hard to explain http://laf.cioe.com/~benbobbo/NonCGI/biggrin.gif Also check for excessive side to side (lateral) movement. Basically, if you can feel or really hear the bearings, it's time for a rebuild. You can't realy tell anything by just looking at it, unless it's so damaged that the damage is visible (which would be very bad). What kind of car is it and how many miles are on it?

Well its not for me, but my friend is looking at a '92 twin turbo Stealth. Not sure how many miles are on it.

Watch those motors I've seen MANY that use alot of oil those 3.0l V6 don't hold up too good unless the previous owner toke real good care of it.
