just picked up one of those cheap ebay strut tower bars and there seems to be a slight clearance issue with the hood. the hood will latch, but at idle it will vibrate against the bar causing an aweful noise on the driverside, but not passenger.
just wondering if anyone else has this problem or what?? would the bar lose its effectiveness if i flop it over and have the bend going down..not even sure if it will clear the intake mani...just an idea.

Just bend it back a bit. Put some grease on the bar and close the hood to see where it is touching.

nope....the hood is straight. ian, i will give your method a shot and see if that helps.
thanks guys
My friend had the same problem with his NXR (australia), he did what Pretty White suggested and located the spot where it was touching and stuck a small piece of really dense rubber foam on that spot, so when the bonnet shuts it presses against the foam and it solved the rattle. Its a bit of a half assed method but it worked, so yeah, give that a shot.
And do not turn the strut brace around so it curves down, I reckon that will compromise its intended performance.

im not going to flip the brace over but i just wonder how flipping it will compromise the effectiveness now that i think about it. the bends in the brace are exactly the same whether they are pointed up or down.....i dunno...guess it comes down to physics or some scientific explanation........
screw it....its a $6 strut brace....Oh the fuck well!

I had the same problem - my first post on these boards was about the same thing. The problem seemed to cure itself in a very short time (a week or two as I recall). Sorry if this isn't a very technical response, but mine just stopped vibrating against the hood after a while. No idea why.
