You can use any source of manifold vacuum that gets a signal after the throttle bodies. This means that you will need to connect the boost gauge to the black vacuum box at the rear of the motor behind the plenum and abovethe power steering pump. You won't see positive boost until the engine is under load, so you'll never see more than 0 just revving it. Sounds like you got it right.
