After only being able to run a 13.15 @115 with 2.3x 60ft's on Nitto 450's, I've decided I need to get new tires ASAP, what do you guys recomend? I would like to get something that's under $140 a tire...

Easy answer: Nitto 555R Drag Radials. If you're turbo, then get 15s. If NA or nitrous (like me http://www.sr20deforum.com/NonCGI/biggrin.gif), then get 205/55/14s.

I hit consistent 1.98 and 1.99 60-ft times with these, at 16-17psi, launching at 5,000 rpm.

They're DOT legal, and believe it or not, they don't behave badly on the interstate at all. Just slow WAY down in the rain, though.

That's my suggestion. Others?

Greg's right the nitto 555R's rock. They got me in the 14's the first time i ran them. Yep 205 55 14's.

Sounds good, I've heard good things about the Nittos before, any other DOT "drag radials" to consider that come in a size to fit our cars?

15" Nitto 555R's don't come in the right size for SE-R's. They only make 205/45/15's which gears the car down pretty good, makes me have to shift into 4th gear WELL before the 1320'.

BFGoodrich makes some drag radials in the correct 205/50/15 size. I've never heard of them, but if i can get rid of my 555R's then i'd be willing to try these out.

Seattle's right about the 15" Nittos. I've made a few passes with the 205/45/15s before. The diameter is smaller that the 14s, which *should* equate to a better final drive ratio.

I went through the lights at an indicated +3mph over the 205/55/14s, and indicated 102mph versus my normal (at the time) 99mph trap speeds.

BFGoodrich has their drag radial, and it's in an interesting 225mm width for the 14s. Not sure of the aspect ration. If it could be stuffed on a Classic stock rim, then I might go that route. It has the same diameter as the Nittos, at 22".

The Nitto's will give you longer life (wear) than the BFG's. The BFG's hook slightly better. It's a trade off.

Do you guys have problems with wheel hop on these drag radials? Launching on my MT slicks was like launching on pillows, smooth as hell. I've heard the drag radials will cause some really bad hop. Any input?

I haven't had any problem with hop on street tires... do you have ES bushings and some motor mounts? (I've got the full bushing kit and JWT mounts)

Depends on the track, really. If they treat the track, and you get 'in the groove' properly, then no tire shake.

With nitrous, it also depends on when the nitrous comes in (on a throttle switch). Too early, and yes, some tire shake.

I've seen the Christmas Tree go by my window before, going up and down, up and down, up and down.

Then again, I've shot out of there like a cannon, no shake at all. This is launching at 5,000+ rpm, with 16psi in the Nittos.
