: Turbocharging a JDM Primera Motor?

Would it be wise to Turbo a JDM Primera (10:1 compression) motor or not? What would be a safe limit to boost pressure on this higher compression motor?

Reason being, my stock motor has around 120K miles on it. I want to go turbo, but think I should get a lower mileaged motor before I do so. I can get the JDM motors for around 500 bux, than piece together Turbo Parts. Like I saw Andreas selling the bluebird manifold, turbo, pipes, etc for 750. And another dude sellin his Jim Wolf ECU w/370cc injectors for 600. That all adds up to 1850. Pretty good deal right? Maybe im just on crack and should order a DET motor, sigh. I kinda wanted to go about it at my own pace instead of just getting everything all at once.

It can and has been done, safely.
Jason Young (I believe) has a t28 setup on a 10:1 motor (has it or worked on it or whatever.. I remember his name being associated with it)
Also.. I have a 10:1 turbo motor right now.
As far as safe boost, I am not sure, it depends on your setup.. I am currently boosting to stock t25 boost (6.5 psi?) and it is fine.

Just curious but why not just take and build your motor up as opposed to buying a new one? You could strengthen it up for $500. Even if you get a JDM motor, they usually have between 30-40k miles. So just make yours stronger instead.

matt, nissan motorsports pistons are only $50 each, and all you need is new rings and bearings, so 300-400 more you could have a rebuilt motor.

Why don't you just get a BB DET? Why turbo a 10:1 motor? you won't be able to boost high w/o some tricks up your sleeve....

BB DET costs more than this. I am trying to get a hold of a T28 to put on a Primera engine. So I am also watching this thread closely. Sounds promising.
