: Help needed with Greddy Profec B II Tuning
SR20&AWAY 06-03-2004, 09:58 PM I can not seem to get my profec b spec II to set the hight boost and the low boost without the boost juming around. My spec I never had this problem, has anybody had this problem and corrected it.
Thanks
Jeff

lol brother i think everyhas this problem anddd veryyy few have corrected it totally! and once you upgrade and want to raise boost you gotta startt alll over! just keep messin with it... *** way i do it is i just find a long road at like 2 in the morning and fill up like half a tank and mess with it for like a hour or two. but i got mine for alittle while working veryyyy savage! it would hit 8 to 9 psi in first then 10 in second and top at 11 in third. it was nice for traction. but just goes to show there veryyyy difficult to tune in
freaktroll 06-10-2004, 02:52 PM You also want to adjust the gain. Try this on the freeway first. I usally set the gain at like 15 (10 is stock), then just keep raising the boost % thingy until you are hitting the boost you want. Then try some starts in 1st, & 2nd, and see if you are spiking at all. If you are, then turn down the gain until its just right. If it is not spooling up quite fast enough, then turn up the gain and adjust the boost % down a bit. Its a balancing act really.
Basically you want to adjust the boost % until it is right around where you want it, then adjust the gain so it spools about right and fine tune it from there. Turn up the gain until it starts to spike, and then adjust the boost % until its just right.
Good luck... I'll let you know when I finally get mine right :D
skyliner 06-10-2004, 04:42 PM This is assuming your using the PSI units.Turn "set gain" to 5. Make sure you "gain" is 10%. Now start turning "set" value up till your initial boost is the value you want(say 10psi). Your looking for the initial pressure, most likely it won't hold the pressure up top. Once you have the initial boost, start turing the "gain" value up until it hold the same initial boost and then holds it. After this is set, you can start turning the "set gain" up to add quicker spool. If you turn up this setting to high it will over shot the desired boost pressure and open up a whole new can of worms. Repeat for Hi Boost. Another thing make sure ALL the plastic plugs were removed from the solenoid unit, and you have the lines going to the correct places. (WG,Reference)
Good luck.........

When you say "initial boost", do you mean what you want the turbo to begin its boost pressure at, or what boost you ultimately want to achieve? Im a bit confused... I was under the impression the turbo just spools the boost as quick as it can and that it cant be set...
skyliner 06-16-2004, 03:33 PM If you have the gain down, it should hit a boost peak say 10psi then fall off. The peak is what I call "initial boost", guess I should call it boost peak. You want it to peak at what you want the final setting to be. So if you want 10psi , turn the "set" value up till you get the 10psi peak, then you adjust the "gain" up until it holds the 10psi. After you have this down you can raise the "set gain" value up to get a faster spool. The "set gain" is the point the Profec starts controlling boost, if this is too close to the final boost setting it will over shoot the desired pressure. On high boost you have to do this all over again. On my Avenir T-25 10psi is,"set"@30%, "gain"@30% and "Set gain"@7psi. Hope this explains it better.

Ahhh! I have to try this. I have always just automatically set my "set gain" to what I want the peak boost to be. In reality though, you should set the "set" to your peak boost... right
