: Clutch recommendations
Bounty Hunter 06-10-2004, 01:20 AM I'm installing a JDM SR20DE in my '93 SE-R soon. I was thinking about a new clutch since I'll have the car apart. I'm wondering what you guys recommend and also where would I find the best deals. So far what I've seen the clutches have been pretty damn expensive.
Thanks,
Todd
Harris 06-10-2004, 01:46 AM Depends on your power goals. If you're planning to stay NA and don't take your car to many races, an '00 SE PP clutch kit is a good idea. If the car is strictly a daily driver, the Key Value Clutch Kit is not a bad idea either. Both kits are priced well below $200.

I can attest to that too! I have the KV clutch in my car and I love the soft pedal feel and good clutch-grab!
La_Noche 06-10-2004, 04:47 PM How about exedy clutches? Someone on ebay sells them for $135. Are those any good?

Not worth it. It is supposed to be a stock replacement. Why pay more for the same thing?

Okay guys, I got the USDM SR20 out and did some inspections once we cracked the tranny loose. The clutch is gone. I need a clutch now and I thought about lightening the flywheel as well. I'm considering this KV clutch and the Exedy. Exedy says it's 5-10% stronger than stock. It comes with a PP and a new throwout bearing. Does the KV come with this as well?
Thanks,
Todd
myprojectB13 08-09-2004, 05:12 PM Yes, it includes the PP, clutch disc, and throwout bearing.

So would you recommend it over the Exedy?
Harris 08-09-2004, 05:34 PM I would! Let me ask you this, is your car going to be strictly a daily driven car, or do you have some racing in mind?

Mostly a daily driver, but I might do a few AutoXes (which I don't find to be too hard on clutches). Maybe a few stoplight battles, but until I BOOOOST I won't be doing too much of that. The WRX will be saved for most of that.
gottabfast 08-10-2004, 10:59 PM Where is the best place to get the JWT PP and SE disk?

JWT on the Pressure Plate.
I believe I got my SE disc through Courtesy.
Blue93G20 08-11-2004, 08:33 PM For N/A and light track use, also for light turbo setups i found my ACT to be an excellent clutch, soft pedal, nice grab, long life.
Don't buy a clutchnet from mine and what i have read most to all of them moan and whine at some point. ACT Street/Strip clutch never did that.
goneturbo 08-13-2004, 11:12 PM for stock power go with a key value kit. also, when e-bay sellers are claiming 5-10% increase over stock it is almost always on the lower end. they just double up of the retaining clip for the pressure plate surface. you will not really notice a difference for performance over the stock kit. you dont need a jwt, act, or clutchnet setup so dont waste the money.

Thanks! I'm ordering them this week.
