well this is kinda a long story but here goes. when i first bought my car i noticed something was up with my idle. when ever i'd slow down or cruise to a stop and put the clutch in i noticed the way the rpm needle dropped was a little weird, like it would sometimes drop to as low as 100 rpm and sometimes it would drop so low an fast that the car would wanna turn off. and sometimes it would turn off when i'm making a turn or pulling into a drive-way or something of that sort that required me to slow down using the clutch or break. ok, so that kinda stopped for a long time until it started doing it again about a month ago. so yeah, all the symptoms returned only this time like around 1:30 pm i was leaving the mall parking lot and i put the clutch in and break at a stop and the car just dies, so i try and start it as if it were one of those times again, but nothing. no crank, no engine trying to struggle to turn on. it was as if i was not even depressing the clutch to start the car. i some dude helps me push it outta the way of traffic and i park it. for a long as time i dont know what the problem is and i'm looking under my hood to see if anything is unplugged or loose (i'm a noob about cars) and to my knowledge everything looks fine. so i wait a long as time and finally like around 3 some thing almost 4 it just starts up as if nothing happened. so i drove to my friends house and i parked it with no problems, shortly after i had to move the car into a different space and that worked fine too, it wasn't untill about 5 o clock that we were gonna leave that the car wouldn't start again. it finally got started about an hour ago and now i'm home, some one, anybody please help me, all i think is that i think i just need a tune up and have some things replaced. much help or comments are appreciated.

I had almost the same problem you're having. I would slow down and the idle played games with me and sometimes shut off when i slowed or stopped. It never got to the point where it didn't want to turn back on but now I'm having that problem again with the idle. Anyways, a mechanic advanced my timing (by hand) and it went away for a while until now. I think it's strange that it only happens when it's warm outside  I'm still trying to fix the problem on mine. If I get it fixed I'll let you know how.....I know I didn't help much but hopefully someone will........

first things first, set your idle, than your ignition timing. if its dead on, than u need to assume its a sensor. more than likely its the idle air control valve. other possiblities include: maf sensor, throttle postion sensor. grab a factory service manual to aid in your testing.

I would go with the throttle position sensor in that one but like anything you try to fix, it's always the last thing you replace.

my car is too having the same problem except for it not wanting to turn on. although sometime it will just stall right away on start-up.

yeah mine did that too. right now it's parked outside my house, it cranks up and runs, i'm just affraid it will mess up if i go out and the milage sux now.

well i think my base idle is okay. it's at about 800 or 750 rpms the lines are so close so i cant really decide but i think it's ok. but are you saying that the maf sensor or tps can be causing my car do have that weird idle while i'm driving or is that stuff causing it not to start up?
