: Fun While It Lasted
lance 06-16-2004, 02:50 PM Had a little accident last week with the SE-R, pulled into an intersection and an old guy in a minivan ran the red light and creamed me. My beloved SE-R, my first new car ever, went to the big racetrack in the sky with 196,371 miles on the clock, still with the original clutch. I will miss her dearly.
As for me, I survived with a couple cracked ribs, a concussion, and some major back and neck pain. Luckiest guy in the world, though, considering what happened. Missed a week of work in a pain-killer stupor but I'm back now. Someone was watching over me that day, for sure.
RIP, my friend:

97SENTRASER 06-16-2004, 02:53 PM glad to hear you're OK Bro. My wife and I almost got creamed this weekend in Orlando by a drunk driver. Plus I was driving my brother's 03 Maxima. he missed us by 2 inches and slammed into a palm tree. He was pinned in there and they had to cut him out. Not fun stuff to witness. Plus The wife and I would be laying in a hosptial still as fast as he was going.
coach 06-16-2004, 02:54 PM Damn man, that really sucks! Car looked to be in amazing shape fore tall this crap to. Glad to see you are doing better man.

It hurts to look at those pics.
chriscar 06-16-2004, 03:59 PM Shit, that'll buff out! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there's something amazing about the way B13's protects their occupants in bad crashes.
What's happening with the car, are you parting it out? I noticed you were running Azeni's.

Typical Chris response:
"Glad to see you are okay"
"Want to sell some parts"
:)
chriscar 06-16-2004, 04:18 PM I neither said that I was glad he's ok (although I am), nor did I ask if he wanted to sell me any parts.

nizzan4u2nv 06-16-2004, 04:21 PM Definitely glad you are alrite and survived. My cousin was t-boned by a drunk driver, I wish I could say the same about her.
SkoSter06 06-16-2004, 04:51 PM glad to hear your alright, sorry about your car though.
binky 06-16-2004, 05:17 PM A moment of silence for the SE-R.......
Glad you came through in one piece. Now sue the pants off of the punk that hit you!
97pocketrocket 06-16-2004, 05:44 PM I'm glad you're ok. How'd the other guy hold out? I hope he had insurance, the last minivan that hit me (decided to make a right hand turn from the left hand lane and didn't even bother looking) didn't and my god I was pissed. If it didn't happen in front of a cop I'd have beat the snot out of her and ripped her arms and legs off to prevent her from ever driving again...what's worse, she had already bred (she had a kid in the car) so we have yet another generation of dumbass to deal with :(
lance 06-16-2004, 06:06 PM Thanks for all the responses, I appreciate it. As for the parting out requests, I'll have to wait and see how things go with the insurance companies. I put the Azenis, plus new struts and a new muffler, on just last month. Great timing. It was running like an animal for those few weeks, though.
As for the accident, I was pulling out of a shopping mall onto a four lane street (two each way). The light was clearly green and there were 2-3 vehicles waiting for the light in the lane nearest me, the first being a full-sized pickup truck. When I got into the intercection and was able to see down the other lane, I couldn't help but notice the green minivan about 8 feet away and closing fast. I had time to put my head down and then he hit me, hard. When I woke up, I was in the middle of the intersection on my right side with my right arm pinned behind the passenger seat. I was all wacked out, and tried to sit up and look around. The driver of the minivan was at my door telling me to stay still- he was fine as both his airbags deployed (mine did not, being a side impact). I realized then what had happened and the medics arrived right away. They had to go in through my sunroof and open the passenger door, then they hauled me out on a backboard.
I'll post pics of my hat tomorrow- it was brand new. The cop came into the ambulance with it and gave it to me and said how lucky I was. The lid flattened down over my eyes on impact with the door glass and was shredded by the glass. On the side, there's a hole where my head rammed against the door frame. Not a mark on my head or face.
I doubt that I'll replace it with another SE-R, it wouldn't be the same thing. I loved that car and had a lot of memories associated with it. I'm going to replace my truck (the Z-71) shortly with another one and then, eventually, look for a low mileage '95 M3. I gotta have a car.

glad to see u are still here and able to sign on lance! sorry bout your car, i know u will never fully be compensated, for that nor the injuries u sustained. but you did make it through! as for u 97..... i had the exact same thing happen to me but SHE was in the right lane ,and decided to make a left hand turn while i was in the opposing left hand lane, she was barrelling straight for me , with 2 of the 3 kids i could seein the front seat with her!!! when i saw them knowing she was gonna slam into me nearly HEAD ON, i darted out in the next lane over to my rite, ( it ws clear and my side had the green < EVEN THE GREEN ARROW , *** as she was pullin through) i punched it but my clutch was slipping with the sr20 and its new home B12... ( i had just replaced it that week) anyways i got tboned, the investigating officer said that it was unfortunate that i still got hit , but if i didnt do *** i had did i might nto be here today. the impact was lessened for her tryin to slow down IN THE TURN/SWERVE** **** skip alot of the emotional stuff. but i said to him LESSENED!!! my seat belt came UNbuckled nad i was sitting on the centercosole, im lucky NOT to have a e brake up my ass! . i was ready to kill. they kept me in a squad car on the other side of the gas station that i got thrown into 5 inches from a traffic light control box. as chris was saying about b13's that b12 i did and still do miss dearly , but she did save my life........ lance once again , glad to see u on the boards, thank GOD , keep ya car in ur heart , SHIFT the possiblities, and ENJOY THE RIDE....
arent u all glad i opted for the short version.:) as i said i did AND still do miss that car hence the reason im tain half a page to tell ya'll....
