Its a 4 door, no idea what engine, pretty rough condition. Just saw it in a car park.

Well I never said it couldn't be done, especially since Nissan made 4WD B13 Sentras which was at least sold in Japan with a GA16DE, GA15DS, GA13DS,SR18DE, or a CD17.

Here is a part of the section of my 1991 Sunny brochure that I used on another thread that shows the model.

Did they offer a manual tranny in that AWD configuration with the SR18? If so that'd be the drivetrain to swap into a B13 to make the conversion, although it's my understanding that extensive modification must take place for such a swap, since the floorpan and front suspension cradle are different. If there was evidence that the AWD tranny could put a lot more power down, then I think you'd find at least one or two people would have swapped this drivetrain and a DET in for one hell of a car, but it's yet to be seen. I'd love to be the first but not without extensive homework first, not to mention sourcing the parts without getting gouged for them.

WOW, very cool indeed. Im sure someone with the right amount of money and connections can pull it off.

I have an easier way to do it... I'm just going to paint the same thing on my car.

I'm not saying it hasn't been done, but having it painted on a car doesn't make it so. If that were the case, there'd be a ton of Civic Si's, and Sylvia's all over the road here in the U.S.

Better yet, I think I'll paint "GTO" on the back and put a hood scoop on my car. Hell, my car hasn't been lowered and I have quite a wheel gap... I think I could fool a few people into thinking I really have a 4wd SE-R;).

Peace,
Mark

With enough money, nearly anything is possible. How about a Infiniti IRL engine powered B13? Quite possible. Much money. Quite worthless.

it would be nice if we could get it imported, and just say its from the U.S or something. it doesnt look any different, aside from the fact the steering wheel is on the other side.

Yeah its old news that there were altessa b13s in japan. We just havn'y had somebody with the means or ambition (that we know of) that has cut out the floorpan and drivetrain and sent them here to convert a car.

From what I can decipher from the Sunny brochure, yes the SR18DE powered Sunny GT-S w/Attesa 4WD did come with a 5-speed manual transmission. In fact most cars outside of the United States made by companies other than a US based manufacturer has manual transmissions as standard equipment. Automatic transmissions were developed more for lazy American drivers.

It would be easier to get the whole car from Japan, have a totalled sentra, and swap Vins...I know people that have done this with 240s...they just say it was a right hand drive swap if the coppers ask. Its risky, but a lot easier than converting...

If you can smuggle a car you can smuggle drugs into the ports of the US shores. It's not simple to just IMPORT a car onto the shores of the US like people think. If it is.

I got $22,000 in a bank account. Let me know an I'll import a Skyline for myself and tell the cops it's a 240sx with lots of custom body work;). I live in the middle of No where. Omaha, NE.

well,

i can say for sure that down here(Europe Greece), we have many Sunnys 4 door, AWD!! They were produced around 1991-1995, just before Almeras and they eqquiped with 1,6 liters motor.
But they had exactly the same AWD altessa system as the GTIRs!!! I have at least 2 friends who put a GTIR engine in there, and fits perfectly. The grip, accelaration etc due to AWD manual transmission makes it the perfect street weapon for our slippery roads. I can provide some pics if you really want it.

The pic was taken in New Zealand...so yes, it is RHD. It would have been imported to NZ from Japan.

Its not hard to get a whole car if you know the right people.
