: finally! my car
Shift_Munky 12-04-2005, 09:14 PM for future reference greddy.com does have guage wiring diagrams in plain old english on their site now
Link please? I went back and still couldn't find them.
i envy your work but have to ask why you went strut/shock rather than just buying coilovers? i mean since you went through all that trouble blasting and spraying the various suspension parts ya might as well go for the gold and not waste money on kyb (barf). hope to see your end product soon. laters and good luck.
Purely cost, plus this setup has shown to be a suitable one for beginner drivers. My plan was to start with a less expensive setup, build my skills as a driver until I can outdrive them, cage the car, and then go with a nice coilover setup.
K.Ogawa 12-05-2005, 05:12 AM that's good thinking. recommend the jic magic flta1's and flta2's (2's if it is really gonna be a track star)

This is an option, although I've heard their stateside customer service really sucks. "Rebuildability" is a major concern since I don't want to have to drop $2k+ every time they need to be rebuilt just to get brand new units.
For this reason, I am currently leaning toward Tein RS's or Ground Control Advance Designs. I had the latter on my Civic hatch, and they are amazing. Customer service was great, rebuilding is easy, and the construction was top-notch. I would also consider an offering from Koni if I were made aware of one in this range.
Ultimately I will know my ride height within 0.5 - 1", and have a spring rate and damping rates nailed down, so I only have to specify these things to (for instance) Koni and have them build something to my specifications. Off-the-shelf will have to do until I get to this point though.

Turbo711 12-06-2005, 09:06 AM Hey, hope the buildup is still goin smooth, thought you might like to see this setup I came across on Driftsession. It's kinda like a front mount combined with a V-mount, so it has the short pipes. Oh and you don't have to notch the radiator support.

Ouch, I think I would cry!
Shift_Munky 12-06-2005, 10:09 AM I can kinda see what the design looks like, but the picture is small and doesn't focus on the area of interest. Any more pictures?
Turbo711 12-07-2005, 08:52 AM Theirs one more, but it's not too detailed either. Here it is:

The intercooler is under the air guide, and the pipes run into/out the very ends of it. Both the radiator and iintercooler are tilted backwards.
Shift_Munky 12-07-2005, 11:03 AM That helps a little bit, actually. Thanks.
Update: Russ will definitely be coming up this weekend to help finish the wiring, including the fuel pump. After that, I only have to purchase and install the lower radiator hose, find and install a few other small hose bits, and add oil to the engine and tranny. Wish me luck!

Using some 8mm silicone vacuum tubing to make the connection:

I’m not sure if silicone will work here, as it’s incompatible with gasoline and oil. Any thoughts?

Also, where did you order all your blue vaccuum hosing from (coolant overflow tube too)

Shift_Munky 12-28-2005, 11:13 PM Also, where did you order all your blue vaccuum hosing from (coolant overflow tube too)RoadRace Engineering (http://www.roadraceengineering.com/hoseandclamps.htm), in the "DIY" section. Mainly a DSM group from what I can tell, but they have everything in stock that I've needed. I originally wanted to do black for the tubing, but it's too damned hard to come by. The blue isn't too bad...it's actually starting to grow on me.

sweet, thanks for the link. they do carry black (woot! thats what i was looking for) did you use the 3mm for the vacuum connections?

Depends on the vacuum connection in question. After talking with the head guy (don't remember his name) at RRE, he offered to name a vacuum hose kit after me like he did with the DSM one on their site if I could come up with the lengths and diameters of tubing in question. Let me dig through my notes to see what I can come up with.

intiractive 12-30-2005, 01:02 AM shiftmunky... that line on the vc to the vacuum line, the silicone hose... well you will get small amounts of oil. i would run it, then check it later that day to assess how much came through there.
