my NX2K over heated in morning rush hour traffice yesterday so i pulled off called a tow truck and towed it to the dealership. After they looked at my car they said they could find nothing wrong with it. It had no leaks and held pressiure and had good flow. This i dont doubt because i just finished working on the cooling system 3 months ago. I changed the thermostat, hoses, and the coolant temp sensor.
So if there was air in my system why did it take 3 months for it to over heat on me? Also after i got the car back i made sure the fans still worked properly and as far as i can tell they do.
On the way back to work after I picked up the car it over heated again. Anyone have any idea?
After the second overheat i said screw it and drove it home and it hasnt over heated since, what is going on with this car?

what do you mean the guage is tweeking? whether the gauge is working or not my car is still over heating because the water is boiling in the overflow bottle. the only thing that would have to do with that is the coolant temp sensor not the gauge.

It would be nice to know if your fans are coming on when they are suppose to.
I chased a overheating issue in a BMW one day to find out that the Aux. fan wasn't kicking in. It took foever before it would start overheating.
Check your oil and make sure you aren't getting water in your oil.
I'm also wandering if you might have a bad radiator cap, causing coolant to run out before the desired pressure...

im kinda suspecting the cap too, the radiator cap is the same one ive had since i got the car and i dont know how long those things are supposed to last. Is there anythign that could cause the fans to come on sometimes like intermittent? or would they just not come on at all?

check radiator cap and check for cold spots on your radiator.
gotta be one of those two
also water wetter or lubegard kool it work great for radiator supplements

Neat little trick to monitor your fans....I took a red LED and wired it from the fan positive on one side ground to the other and when the fans are on i have a visable indicator in the dash to tell me. Cost? Couple bucks:).

It happens to all NX's. I have no clue why. I suspect the condensor fins are aging, blocking flow to the radiator. I read that somewhere a while back.

I have the same exact problem with my car. I have noticed that if I have the a.c. running it happens more often though.
