I am new to the forum and looking for some help. I am looking to do a motor swap with an SR20DET motor. Correct me please if i am wrong but the Pulsar GTi-R motor has individual throttle bodies, produces 227 HP, and normally run on an AWD trans. I have read several places that this motor can be mounted to a FWD trans and will work fine especially if using the GTi-R ECU. What transmission would need to be used? what other work is required other than motor mounts?

Also I was wondering if anyone had the dimensions of the GTi-R motor because I need to make sure it will fit in the car i am looking to swap with.

if you have the whole front clip (wiring harness and ecu, MAF, sensors) for the motor, you're good to go. I think another option may be to use a US spec ECU and have that programed (Jim Wolf Technology) to work with the GTi-R. I think it might involve hacking up the wiring harness and whatnot, and you'll have to find US sensors. But those are easy to come by :) For the tranny, you just need a FWD SR20 tranny from any US car that uses the SR and it should bolt up.

I'd caution against using the gti-r if it'll be you're daily driver as some parts are hard to come by. It'd be cheaper just to get a Bluebird or Avenir DET. you can go to www.se-r.net and read up on the differences. But I don't think the extra strength of the internals and advantages of the individual throttle body setup come into play until somewhere north of 400whp.

The gti-r swap has been quite a few times and there are others that can tell you more.
