OK i have heard that there are people swaping sr20det's into a BMW e30 chassis. I just happen to have a "IT" e30BMW project that has died. BUT how about a GrassRoots 2005 challenge BMW with a sr20det in it!!

The car is in pieces (stripped down to make wieght) but it has a cage, a fair bit of IT suspenion bits it has no motor or tranny it does have a 3.91 LSD. HMMMMM

So guys now that the wife's B13 is running and is her STS fighter. Time for another project.

Remember the car has a "budget" of 2005 dollars so let not go overboard.
Opinions please and info on the motor swap as well.

Sounds like a fun project, but might be tough to make under the $2005 cap.

May I suggest you hit the Grassroots Motorsports '$2005 For Sale' forum and look at a E30 with a small-block Chevy already installed in it, painted, and running that is for sale for $1,800? THAT would be a killer Challenge car, IMHO, and the hard work is already done. Sure, it's not a SR20....but it IS a Challenge contender with $205 budget room left, not including recouping any parts you sell off the car. ;)

We are still looking at the project PLUS the guys on bimmerforums would be furious. Some of them are way beyond purist. I talking to Fastech Motorsports about maybe offering some help. Now if I can only find a cheap sr20det.

got a price for the kit today 1375.00 which includes nismo engine and tranny mounts the adapters for the mounts, driveshaft, yoke, shifter bushings and the harness which splices into a bmw harness (which I have to supply).
SO the kit seems solid but a little pricey. However I hope to have an outliine and budget for the project this weekend. How cheap can i get a det?

I have a e30 also (318i) and that mofo is beggin for a better motor. I never even considered a sr20det until now. I love that car it is just so damn slow though. I'll have to look into it after the SE-R is done.

yeah the gearbox goes in no worries, lines up with the hole and everything.... ive been told. am doing the same thing myself. let us know how you go!!!
