oi. my life sucks. last night it was raining terribly, and i had to drive my friend home. i was quite nervous about the drive as he lives approx 12 miles away and his town is known for flooding streets.

i make the trip their and back with no ill effects, avoiding standing water the whole time. approx 1 block from my gf's house, i HAVE to go through a puddle, then boom. motor cuts off, i start punching the steering wheel and cursing (think i broke my finger) and all things suck.

anyone know the procedure to check to see if it is truly locked??

also, if it is locked (i pray it isn't, but there was at least 16 inches of standing water) anyone know where i can get a 96+ (must be 96+ jdm because of roller cams thati have ordered for my rr sentra se) jdm/ukdm sr20, or 2000-2002 roller rocker sr20? i'm looking to spend approx 600 bucks for the engine.

i almost wish this would have happened after i ordered cams, as i could have swapped in a 94-99 lowport and had a larger cam selection. my life sucks, and this post is pitiful.

but i digress. i NEED sources for a motor. any and all help would be greatly appreciated. reply post on this thread, PM me, even e-mail me at dboyfan620@yahoo.com. this is my daily driver and i really need to get my baby running again.

TIA. peace...

Geoff

take the plugs out...then disconnect the coil and crank over the motor that will alow the water to pump out of the cylinders then check your oil....install the plugs and start it up....hopefully your ok!!!

If you want to use the roller cams that you bought, you must purchase a roller SR20. A 96+ JDM SR20 is NOT a roller engine.

The roller motors were made from 2000-2001 in the Nissan Sentra SE and 2000-2002 Inifniti G20.

Your best bet is to sell those roller cams, and swap in a JDM SR20 (they are all non-roller). Then get some S5 cams for that motor.

To use a JDM SR20 in your B15, you need:

JDM SR20
Complete B13 harness
B13 MAF
B13 o2 sensor
B13 coolant sensor
B13 TPS sensor

You will swap the oil filter housing from your roller motor to the JDM SR20. Then you will also use your stock power steering pump. There are about 15 wires you will need to splice into on the B15 body harness for things like reverse lights, ignition signal, fuel pump relay, tach, speedo, coolant temp gauge, etc.

You will also need to find a way to wire up your cooling fans, either use the stock ones or get some aftermarket slim fans like I did, and just wire them up to a switch.

You can do this swap for under $700, that's without labor charges.

^^^ nah, all p11 sr20's were rollerized. from what i've researched all sr20's built from 96-02 in europe and japan were rollerized. can ANYONE confirm this??

All UK P11s (96+) are RR....

did you try to crank the vehicle like nismo91ser suggested? maybe you got lucky.

Just because the motor shut off does'nt mean it HAS to be hydrolocked.

it may just have wet some electrical parts and shorted... check some fuses, do what the guy said.. wait till the car dies out

cranked the water out of the motor. replaced plugs (autolite though :( walmart was the only place open... i'll pick up some ngk's tomorrow)

motor runs ALRIGHT. a little louder than normal and the idle is a little screwy (could be due to the shitty plugs)

oi. any other suggestions? i want the motor to run the way it used to. thanks again for advice and suggestions.

Check the MAF to make it thats not the problem.

Yeah, check the MAF. Hyperwhite200 on this board ran thru a puddle, we took apart the intake and water poured out from the MAF. The MAF still works!

Well he said "JDM" motor, not "UKDM". I do not know of any JDM engines that have roller rocker valvetrain?

MAF. Had this happen to me. The MAF doesn't like it when it is trying to read how much air is coming into the engine and it gets a nice big shot of water. I got lucky though and my MAF was alright. If you're running your filter down behind your front bumper you might want to make sure that it is dry. If it's not than you still have the same problem with really "wet" air coming through the intake and confusing the MAF.

Dude I had this happen to me the same day you did http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=88209. If you haven't done so already, change your oil!!! My oil came out looking like milk mixed with oil. Still haven't been able to get my car to idle right though.

hey guys... i tried to drive through some really deep water the other day and the engine died. :(

i just removed the spark plugs and disconnected the ignition coil harness connector, but the engine won't crank. i can clearly see water in the #1 cylinder. the rest look "ok". when i turn the key and hold it, i just hear a rapid fire clicking noise. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Way to go, bumping a 2 year old thread. Your best bet is to start a fresh one.

p.s. - Try cranking over the engine with a socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley, that way you'll be able to feel if it's truly locked up, and not an electrical/starter issue.

then when he posts in a new one everyone jumps on him to search... i dont get it...
but anyhow what he said is good advice... i was thinking it might be beacause something shorted out.... did you let the car dry before trying this stuff?

oh and why would you drive through deep water? I mean even if you watch the news you should know its bad
