I'm new to this forum, i don't drive a 240/silvia, but i will in the future... but i have this question and it's debatable on this issue...

the SR20 is a high-revving engine, does it require a new tach that reads a higher RPM? I've ridden in an SR20-ed 240 and it's just awesome... but the RPM range on the stock tach seems too low for the engine..? it felt like the engine wanted to revv even higher.. i dunno. :p
has anyone done the aftermarket tach swap? have you noticed any differences?

You can use a jdm cluster(kph) :D

You can get just the JDM tach and swap out hte USDM one for that. You don't have to get the WHOLE cluster.

hmmm.
no one is answering my question?
lah..
does it affect the performance of the SR20DET if a tach that reads a higher redline is put in?

The SR20 can rev to 7500 reliably. If your tach stops before that I would guess you're not getting all the revs out of the SR20. So you should get an aftermarket or JDM tach that can read to 7500rpm. No performance will be gained really, other than using more of the engines powerband.
