I want black carpeting, seats, and the trim. I was planning on using rit dye, but my friend did, and it made all of the fabric hard and brittle. What is the best method to dye the fabric. I was going to use a spray bottle and a little black Rit dye, and just spray away on it all.

I have seen it done, but with his, it turned out unfavorably. What do you guys suggest.

there is carpet dye you can buy from walmart i believe ill get you the name exactly i dont know it off hand but have used it before it works really really good

the only thing is that you need to have a little kid size pool and fill the thing up with warm water i believe and then add the dye and let set overnight but it turns out awesome i did a beige carpet to blue with a friend and it looked like it came from the factory the carpet wasnt hard and brittle like it would with a spray on substance

i would go with that if you are interested i can get you more info on it let me know if you are interested more in this dye ?

I have heard that dye can come off over time or even come off on your clothes. For the dash a friend told me that airbrushing it would work. If i were you i would get some nice G20t black leather seats but thats just my .02$

So if I use a kiddie pool, it will turn out well? I have already taken out the carpet, and the seats, so I am just waiting to dye it.

If I soak the carpet, will the dye still fade, or come off on me?

does anyone have other experience?

should I just use Rit dye? What brand do you suggest. Should I hook a hose up to my hot water heater for hot water? Will the soaking ruin the rubber backing, I know it is rubber, but still.

Thanks for the help

My friend used fabric safe rattle can on his carpet, and I thought he got it redone. The only problem is the smell for awhile. Rit dye will eventually fade turn purple, and if it gets wet, will make clothes or whatever purple too. I really wouldnt trust it.
