I recently picked up a '94 Sentra LE (limited edition) for a daily driver while my 98 SE gets garaged. Living near the Pocono Mountains in PA I was planning on getting some snow tires for this winter for it (studded perhaps, maybe Blizzaks) and I was wondering what everyone's experience is regarding these. I have heard good things about the classics in the snow with the proper tires; I can't take another winter driving on Pirelli's in blizzards. :biggthump

Also, if anyone can chime in with their opinion of the various snow tire types for the B13's that would be great.

Hmm dunno bout those..but my Azenis did pretty well over this past winter. Didn't do to much accidental sliding :biggthump How you like the LE? Power everything?

Scranton is only like 45 min from where my dad lives. Sanyo it's a decent car and yes power!

the 2 door LE I had (back from 1995-1998) didn't have power windows or locks..

My SE-R (with lsd) is unstoppable with decent tire. With 1 ft of snow, I was almost the only car on the road. I was for sure the only one that got to work before 10:00.

I plan to get some Blizzaks before this winter, as the tires I was using are done.

I had fun with the 91 and Nokian's. Does the LE have a LSD?

My 92 SE-R was awesome when equipped with Michelin Artic Alpins in the stock 14 in size.

14 " Blizzaks all around you will be unstoppable. I got great tread ware on them. Ran a set 5 months a year for 7 years on the same set. Compount they are made of feels like those old erasers that had on ball point pens. They feel like they have grit in them. When you put them on you will have to adjust your driving a little. I always had a day or 2 that I was chirping them at stop lights like some rice-a-roni-baffonni.

Just do it. Put em on steel wheels for that gettotastic look! :biggthump

They're great in the snow, but as you all know, it's more about the tires than the car.

Four or five years ago, we had a severe (well, what we consider severe) snow storm and I drove around on Dunlop D60A2s with no problem whatsoever. The interstate looked like a parking lot with all the abandoned vehicles (SUVs included).

This year, I tried the same thing with SO3s and let's just say I had to walk up the hill to my house.

Nah, I mean I don't know for sure, but it's only a GA16DE, pretty sure those never had LSD regardless of trim level

The SE-R is unstoppable in winter conditions! :bigthumb:

It's got great ground clearance, FWD, LSD, relatively light weight... What more could you ask for in the snow? :) AWD?? Overrated! The picture below was taken at a Philly region SCCA autoX. It snowed, and we ran anyway. 18 AWD Subarus showed up to this event. My bone-stock SE-R on snow tires beat all of them except for one...

Those are the snow tires that I have. I put them on a spare set of 14" SE-R alloys. Try TireRack. IIRC, mine were about $240 shipped for a set of 4 Michelin Arctic Alpines.

My se-r sucked last winter compared to my old XEI think it was the mix of me not used to it and the lsd that got me ***, I live in Ohio and we usually get a month or 2 tops of snow covered roadway and I am debating on whether or not blizzaks are necessary, I may just pick up some falken ziex all seasons and be done with it

I've got some used blizzaks on my egg - great low speed traction, but gets real squirrelly above 40 or so. I think they have too much traction, so when you ride in some ruts in the snow, they try to climb up and out of them, lose traction at the top, then fall back in - they've freaked me out more than the stock Dunlops. I plan on driving the blizzaks till they wear out then replace w/ decent all-seasons like the Dunlops (good for everything but ice)

Here's a question - is it a bad idea to only purchase studded tires for the FRONT wheels only to save money, and leave the back tires with all seasons? Just figuring since our cars are FWD (obviously :) ) perhaps I could save some cash.
