I'm having such a hard time deciding what I want. T28? T3/T04E? Fmax manifold? GTi-R manifold customized? I know I want the JWT ECU, I'm pretty sure I want the upgraded fuel stuff, I just don't know what I want. I DO know I want to spend my money wisely and DON'T want to spend $3000. How much are T28s? T3s? T3/T04Es? Variations thereof?

I want above T25 power but less than $3k. I DON'T want the FMAX manifold really. I want either a GTi-R manifold or BB manifold with T3 flange on it. I want somewhere between a normal T28 and a T3/T04E with .82 exhaust housing. Help me decide here guys. Where's the sweet spot in the money/power curve?

Since your ultimate goal is to go FI without going broke (is there any other way??) you need to be very consciense of cost of the individual parts.

One thing to consider is using a turbo that could bolt onto a factory turbo manifold. I would think that getting your hands on one of those should be relatively easy and cheap. Then, either a BB T25, or a BB T28 since you had such good luck with your last setup.

The larger turbos (T3/T04E, HKS GT series, etc) will ultimately give you better end results as far as dyno sheets are concerned, but how much driveability do you want to sacrefice?

The T25 in your sentra spooled up really fast and felt very good. Since that turbo isn't reliable about 7psi (that's correct?) then the BB version or the BB t28 may be the next best thing.

As I've been pondering my turbo options for my 240, I've taken driveability into account. I've set a goal HP and I'm going to try and make it without sacreficing fast spool up for autocross or road course racing.

This probably wasn't the most technical response, but I think it should help make an educated decision.

I am adding the T28 from a GTiR to my JDM SR20DE (the car that you got some cruise control stuff out of, Ben). Once I have all the prices, I can let you know how much it all cost. I am aiming for under $2500. One thing though is that I already have a JWT ECU, so reprogramming for turbo is only $100.

Maybe people dissing on the T25 so much has got me down on it. I loved it! But knowing that it's near it's maximum all the time and is a small turbo for the engine in theory bothers me.

Maybe I'm a T28 guy. How much do these go for? How about with BB center section?

The T28's with ball bearing center come from the S15 SR20DET, I believe? I haven't seen many for sale, but I was not looking. I think they are significantly more than the non BB T28's. Maybe I can find out. Or if you want, you can go the HKS GT turbo route, but that will be pretty expensive also.

I was down on the T25 from what people said too, so I decided to do the T28. then I got a ride in George Roffe's T25 equipped G20, and I was really impressed. :D Now, I think it's hard to beat for the price. Forced induction is just greatness!!

Oh, and I am getting my T28 from Andreas. He's a good guy to deal with. You can see how much it is by checking out his post in the for sale section under Pulsar GTiR turbo....

BB T28 is from the S15 DET. I thought the GTiR had the same turbo?

My only concern with the T25 would be the reliability. The S14 DET has a BB T25. You may have better luck finding one of those. I could be wrong...since I'm so new to this nissan stuff :)

What does it cost to put a T3 flange on a GTIR manifold?

I think driveability is a key concern which is why I just stuck with a t25 (not to mention breaking trannies). I like to auto-x and road race so having power that comes on smoothly is important. I would think the t28 would come on pretty smooth too.

I was thinking of getting a 240 for a future car and doing a DET, but i'm kinda afraid that putting a big turbo on the DET will kill my smooth, linear power delivery goals. From the couple dyno charts I've seen of big hp DET's, there's like a 250-300 hp jump in a 2k rev range. NOT what I want.

If you're just looking to drag race though.... just stick whatever monster turbo you can fit in the engine bay. These are just my goals and opinions of course :)

The T25 is smooth....very smooth. I think it is great for autocrossing and road racing. It's like adding the pullies...power added everywhere, no kick in the pants jolt.

I hope the T28 will have the same linear power delivery. Hopefully, it should, but if I could afford it, I would go ball bearing center.

What about the RK (listmember Ray Kawski) turbo? T28 with T-04b compressor housing I believe what is was. I did remember reading he had trouble sourcing the housing, and I don't know how much it will cost, but Rob has said it will work nicely and support 280+whp at 16psi of boost, with pretty good boost coming at 3500rpms. Not bad if you ask me.
