Ok so i have a BB motor with tmic on my car,
running SAFC2 to tune it, with JGY 2.5 DP, stock cat, and 2.5 exhaust..

can't seem to figure out why, when i hit boost, it feels like.. the car
pulls hard and when it hits 4k, kinda stays the same.. it doesnt
pull any harder after that... in 2nd gear, 3rd gear, feels kinda slow-ish

i got a MBC pushing it up to about 11 lbs with stock fuel pump..

anyways, wondering, you think a new cat would help it out?
the cat is original on the car since 95, so its an old guy

any other ideas? suggestions?

a clogged cat could cause these issues due to increased back pressure. you should pull the cat off and inspect it. it also could be a number of other issues. so start by checking the basics fuel, timing, leaks.

I had a clogged cat on my NA 200 and the car felt real flat after about 5k. Replaced with new one and opened spark plug gap a little and car felt much better. However if this is your problem I'd look into why the cat went bad or else you'll end up with the same problem. Usually running rich or running for an extended time with a misfire will do it.

Just replace the cat with a test pipe. Your turbo will love it ;) You should beable to get one made from a muffler shop for pretty cheap.

Also i just noticed that you're boosting 11 lbs w/ stock fuel pump. I would suggest you run a bigger fuel pump just to be safe. I know ppl have ran stock pump up to 12-13lbs but it's pretty much pushing it's limits.

Don't gut the cat, you will still be losing power, probably more than with an ungutted cat. You are losing velocity when the exhaust gases are swirling around inside that barren bulb. Just get a test pipe for $35-50 and you will get an easy 10hp out of your exhaust system. Also..if you still run stock fuel pump, then you are on borrowed time. Make that your first mod.
