Generally what does it take to beat or equal a 99-00 Civic Si? I am looking at SE-Rs, (98s as well), and i would hate for my buddy's Si to walk all over me all the time if i get one of these cars.

How long was your ride out of commission while the swap was being done? How much did you find the motor for?

When I was paper filter stock, I would hang right by the fuel lid.
Now I have headers, intake, advance timing and a hellified tune up. Im pretty sure I could hang now.
With cai/headers/ pullies/ advance timing you should be able to take it.

with just g4 headers, my car is ahead of my friends si until he passes me in 3rd gear

light to light i take him, if its just a quick 1st n 2nd gear run

once i install my 91 intake cam i should pull him way more

Judging by my times last night, and the time of an Si over there, I think we are pretty much the same... I have a '97 200SX SE-R... oh and I was completely stock at the track... well except that I reduced the tire pressure in my tires

I think if they are equally modded, you should hang if not beat them. Now remeber, a lot of Si drivers don't know how to drive those cars, so you might have an advantage there. I just raced a del sol w/ a b16, header, cai, exhaust, and pullies. We went from about 35mph. I was a little ahead through 2nd gear, then when he shifted to third, he started to slowly pull away. My mods are: cone filter, hotshot gen 4, hks exhaust. Ive also raced my friends si (hes got cai and exhaust), and I beat him pretty badly.

You want to beat an Si...Get a 95-97 200, throw in a 91 intake cam, JWT ECU make a 2 inch mandrel cat back and you will beat on them all day long. Especially through 2nd and 3rd gear. Now, they do have some top end power, especially if the Si guy knows what he is doing and has mods...but hopefully by then the race is over.

I really think you can take it stock. Those things ar ethe torqueless wonders. The best published 0-60 I've seen for an Si was 7.9 by Car&Driver.

all i can find here are 95s, which have high milage and are starting to rust a bit, It seems as if 96-97SE-Rs dont exist here, There are a couple of 98s kicking around, very few.
Will a 98 SER with CAI, 91 Cams and Headers give a good run against an Si, I just dont want my buddy to take me time and time again.

It's a drivers race. Plain and simple.

Thats what i like to hear, because i really want a SR20DE powered car, and i want a fairly new one. So lets recap here, how would it be possible to get a 98 as fast as a 95-97?

I raced my friends si at the track, although i believe its a 97', not sure. I have the AEM CAI and hot wires, he has a greddy evo exhaust and an some sort of CAI. My best was a 15.681, and his was a 15.7xx, so...

i have a 95 200SX SE-R and have no problems with Si's, or modded GSRs, or Preludes, and have even beat/hung with a few Type R's.

When i had just a cone filter, exhaust, and advanced timeing I was giving the Si's a good run.

Now I have added a header and 91 intake cam and my car has really woken up..

$50 cone filter
$150 paceheader
$100 91 intake cam
$500 Exhaust
-----------
$800 dollars for a Vtec Killer

well my car was down for like 8 weeks the first time cause i got a tech 2 and alot of other stuff. it has been down for 30 weeks this time for alot more stuff!!!! alot more!!! i bought a entire gti-r front clip for like 3200 but you can find a motor for about 2500. it took me less than 9 hours to get the motor out and in. with a few breaks inbetween. but i should have my car back on the road soon sounding like a v8 all cammed up thanks to juns 280 cams.
