Hello,

I just picked up my white 95 200sx se-r! So far I am really happy, but I have a few questions:

1) Did the 200sx originally come with valet keys that did not work on the trunk, or is my trunk lock busted?

2) It looks like the peice of plastic covering the gauges is all foggy! Has anyone else had this problem? I think that the dealer may have wiped amour-all all over it and now it is permently etched into the plastic! How can I take out the plastic shield to clean the inside?

3) I like to make stuff. I could buy my bolt ons, but I find it more satisfying fabbing my own stuff. I built my own CAI with mandrel bends for my old Civic. Has anyone tried this on the 200sx?

4) I also rewelded the "ball" on my civic shifter to change the location of the lever fulcrum. has anyone tried this on their 200sx?

5) My key fob is not really working well. Can I order another one through Nissan? How much about?

Canadian related:

5) Where can I source a BB DET in canada? Any shops in BC do the job?

6) Will swapping a DET allow me to pass AIRCARE here in Vancouver, Canada?

Thanks!

That could be from armoral overspray.

Dre makes custom CAI's out of aluminum, and then relocates the Maf into the wheel well, I guess it gives a more accurate air reading.

most people just cut about 2" off the stock shifter and then install an aftermarket knob.

no, valet keys were for more expensive cars back in 95.

sounds like armor all or sumthin' got on it. taking out the gauge cluster is very easy. just remove the two screws holding the gauge trim, then there are four screws keeping the cluster in place. after taking them out, unattatch the wiring plugs so the cluster can be out in the open. the clear piece should be held on by a couple tabs on the top and bottom of the cluster. viola! if you can get it clean, great. otherwise a new piece would be a good idea.

you should be able to get a new one from the dealer. i dunno how much they are though.

Thanks for the help guys. I took out the plastic cover over gauges, and found out that the amour all permantently etched itself into the plastic. I am going to the junk yard to get another, and mybe pick up a set of white gauges off a 98 se-r while i am at it! Is that piece of plastic the same on the same gen sentra?

While i am down at the wrecker I think I am going to get a shift lever and re-weld the ball higher. Can I source from a sentra?

I gotta go to the dealer an see what is up with my trunk.

After reading tons of posts on this forum, I have decided to go turbo! I am not sure what I am going to use, but it seems like the most cost effective way to better performance.

I will post my turbo questions on the turbo forum.

Once again,

Thanks

PS: Anyone keep their stock racing stripes that run along the side of the car? They have got to go!

Of course I have the stripes. Part of what makes the 200SX SE-R a sleeper!:D
