I am sure this is easy, but i am having problems, i need to take out the stereo console cover in the center of the dash. I just can't get the top two vents out of it. there is a cable that goes to the knob to control airflow which bolts in and i cant get to it with our taking the vents out and i can't get them out, anyone help?

top two vents come out with the big plastic piece, air controls are actually behind the that piece and don't have to come out at all.

i dont think i remember that cable. what does it go to? is it for the recirculate or fresh air switch? does it unscrew or have a tab? just pull it off. i dont remember ever having to do that, i just had to yank it off.

Nevermind, i got them off, i just pushed as hard as i could, my vents were stuck to my large plastic piece VERY well, i thought i was gonna break them. There is a cable that goes from the vertical switch in between the 2 vent that turns on/off the air flow through those 2 vent.

BUt i got it, thanks guys

The cable there hooks to a hook that you can see under the left side of the bottom of the center console. It is held by a metal spring clamp. Then slide the eye off the hook.
If you put your head under the steering wheel and look in that direction while you move the switch up and down you will see where it hooks onto.

or you can just pull like I did and have the panel pop off the vents so you don't have to disconnect the cable
