From what I know they don't make much of a difference. I just use the basic non-platinum Nissan (made by NGK) plugs. Just change them every 30K. At $1.50 you're good to go!

I am running the NGK iridiums in my RWD SR20DET.
THey are fine, I have not had any issues. I put them in when I built the engine, so I dont really know what it was like before, on normal plugs. Read the sales pitch by NGK for all the benefits of iridium.
I have fouled them a few times, But I am always able to clean them and get them back in there working good.
A spark plug is a spark plug.

I have had NGK platinums, and I now have NGK Iridiums. My impression? The car felt smooter, not any more powerfull.

Bringing this back up from the dead. I just got a set of the NGK Iridium BKR5EIX-11s for the weekend car, replacing some 70,000 mile NGK double plats. They were a little cheaper than the double plats, but still not what I'd call "cheap". As I've found with most automotive things, you get what you pay for, so I'm sure they'll be good. I'll post how I like them.

Initial impression: I will buy these again.

I don't know if they are any better than the platinums, but they are certainly good, and much better than 70,000 mile 6 year old double plats. Thumbs up. A "Matt Recommended Buy".

If they still impress after 6 months, I'll give them two thumbs up.

I bought them once. Acually I have bought the Densos and the NGK Iridiums. Not even close to being worth the money. Stick with the NGK platinums and never a concern.

I bought the same plugsas you did. However, I think for my engine (Nissan primera P11-144 2000+ RR-motor) one size colder, 6, is prescribed, although the NGK list mentions the 5 type. Does not seem to make much difference though. Just to be sure not to get too warm a plug I also but type 6 and installed those. Irridium. Runs fine.

I can't see spending more on 1 plug than I would on a set of 4 with absolutely no real gains.

I think you're confused. The standard double platinums that came on our cars are $10 each at Advance. The Iridiums are ~$7 each.

i had some greddy nkg iridiums for a turbo car with a heat range of 7 that were great. i just recently bought some ngk BKR6EIX-11's iridiums from adfabrication on this forum and they are great plugs as well. the car does run and idle smoother, and the revs do seem to climb a little faster!! i definitely recommend these.

Hmmm, well, only the ~$6.50 Iridium ones were availible at my Advance. The double platinum OEM ones were $10.

What are the $11.50 Iridiums? Double Irids?

OK, makes sense now. I got the iridium electrode, BKR5EIX-11 - IX Iridium . I assume the ground is just steel, or perhaps copper.

Either way, good plug.
