Check this out last night i was driving my 90 talon tsi home from work about 50 miles averaging about 70-75 mph i got home let the car idle for about 2 minutes. I then opened the hood to check some vaccum lines and the light in the garage turned off. At this point it was very dark and i look down and saw a glowing orange turbo manifold. I almost crapped in pants. I know my 92 turbo se-r doesnt glow at all. You guys think its because the gti-r manifold are thicker? After seeing this i will always time both my cars 4 minutes to be safe before shutoff. By the way i had the heatsheild on the manifold and happen to see the glowing through the gaps.

A friend of mine autocrosses an Eagle Talon tsi.. he blew the head and replaced a bunch of stuff including turbo etc., but didn't put the heatshield back on the turbo. At the last autocross he melted one of the fan blades and it warped back into the radiator.. luckily the radiator was stronger than melted plastic so it didn't get damaged much at all. He will be putting a new fan in and the heatshields will be on for the next event. :D

Thats nothing I got mine RED hot....the good old dayz. I can't get my log that hot.
