I am in the process of picking out some winter tires and I have a good lead on some Blizzak WS-50s for $94(CDA), but they are 185/60-14. Can I put 185/60-14 on a '92 stock rims??

yes, i believe that is what it suggests on the inner door panel other than the stock 195/55

It was almost impossible to get 195/55 for the nx, especially after i got a flat tire and had to replace the to rears. I think the dunlop sp8000's are the only ones in that size for the nx. I switched over to 195/60 14's now, i like them, and i would suggest them before the 185's, *** ur losing the wider stance that you had if you do switch. She probably wont handle as well then. Just my 2 cents though. Good luck.

I think that would probably work out fine, since you're going to a higher profile to compesate for the skinnier tire. Your speedo might be off a little bit though.

Also, I think skinnier tires perform better in the snow anyway so that is another thing to consider.

Thin tires are always good in snow. Wider tires will not "cut" through the snow because of their wider surface area. Tread design is huge also, if Blizzak's have anything in the 14's, get them. I drive my Corolla in the winter and it has 185/60/14's and it is really good in the snow. Hope that helps.

the 185s are 10mm narrower and only 7.5mm (about 1/3") shorter than the 195s -

Rim Diameter
14" = 356mm

Sidewall Heights
185/60 - 60% of 185mm = 111mm
356 + 111 + 111 = 578mm = 22 3/4"

195/55 - 55% of 195mm = 107.25mm
356 + 107.25 + 107.25 = 570.5mm = 22 1/2"

Slightly narrower (good for snow) and between 1/4 and 1/3" taller - hardly noticeable.

The Blizzaks are awesome - like night & day compared to all-seasons.

185/60 will work great, especially if it is just a winter tire. I had the same trouble Nismo did finding 195/55/14. Brigdestone used to make them, not anymore, so Dunlop 8000's are the only ones. They are good tires, but expensive. When my set wore out, I bought 15" wheels and put Kumhos on them, 205/50. These tires have more grip, better breakaway, and were $20 cheaper/per tire! These Kumhos rock! Anyway, if it were me, i would go with some sporty 185/60/14's (like Yokohama's AVS Intermediate) before I moved up to 195/60/14. In my opinion, a shorter sidewall is more important then a slightly wider tire. 185's will have a stiffer sidewall (if you get good ones) and will have much better turn in. Plus, they won't mess up your speedo (205/50/15 is actually a little tall, 195/50/15 is the correct size, but the sidewall height is the same as on a 195/55/14). God, I love these tires!!!
