: Rebuilding a BB t-25 (Please Help)
QuickZeek 11-28-2001, 08:51 AM anyone know why Turbocity would say the compressor wheel is unobtainable for a Blue Bird t-25 turbo.
anyone had one rebuilt and heard anything like this.
A friend bought my DET stuff and is having trouble having the turbo rebuilt. The compressor wheel needs to be replaced but Turbo City can't find the matching compressor wheel.
Anyone know where one could be sourced?
Thanks
TurbochargedSER 11-28-2001, 07:30 PM I can get your turbo rebuilt for $225.00 as long as it doesn't need a new center section!
QuickZeek 11-28-2001, 09:16 PM it needs a new compressor wheel.
with the rebuild.
It's not my turbo anymore I sold it to someone and
He's having trouble because turbocity can't source the
compressor wheel.
2wdBlazer 11-28-2001, 09:52 PM Why woulbn't any garret t-25 wheel fit? That's what 95-99 Eclipse's run.
Question:
Does anyone know the difference between an Eclipse t-25 and a BB t-25? Reason being, you can get these all day long for $100. Is the compressor housing different? Exhaust housing?
CharlieH98 11-29-2001, 08:21 AM Me too. I need a T25 rebuilt. Anyone? Anyone? :D
Check out www.forcedperformance.net They have a bunch of turbo upgrades for the T25, as such one would think they could rebuild that turbo! Also, the Eclipse T25 has what I think is a proprietary exhaust flange, this might not be easy to adapt to a manifold.
CharlieH98 11-30-2001, 11:12 AM Here's the response from Turbo City to my inquiry
Hi there, thanks for thinking of Turbo City.
Here are the options for you to consider for your turbocharger:
New Repair Kit #300-100 $113.85
Installation of repair kit by Turbo City is $175 plus price of kit above.
Installation will include assembly and disassembly, cleaning of all parts
and housings to a near new appearance, and balancing wheels and shaft.
Prices are plus shipping and handling.
The repair kit contains all internal bearings, seals and gaskets.
It does not contain any wheels, shaft, or housings. The cartridge is
the complete center section, fully assembled, which includes the shaft
and both compressor and turbine wheels.
The turbo is complete and ready for installation. We require as a
condition of the warranty, a new OEM oil supply line for either
assembled unit to insure proper flow of oil. (Not supplied)
The turbocharger has a 12 month or 12,000 warranty.
In the event you choose to attempt a fix with the repair kit, and upon
opening up turbo you find evidence of additional damage, don't open
the repair kit package, and we will take it back and credit towards a
complete turbo -- but only if it has not been opened.
QuickZeek 11-30-2001, 11:20 AM The problem were having is that if its just a rebuild everything is ok. Turbo City is having a problem replacing the Compressor wheel. The copressor wheel was damaged so they are replacing it but they can not find the same wheel.
unlucky 12-01-2001, 03:17 AM call Michigan Turbo and ask for Kelly. Tell him Travis Burelle from New Orleans sent you...For 350.00....his rebuild includes.. Shaft, wheels, balancing, parts cleaning and coating, and new bearings. They reassemble it using molly lube on the bearings so that it doesn't fry when you first start it... This guy did my AiResearch T3 for 350.00. I was impressed with the rebuild...It looks brand new!

ty423 12-02-2001, 07:22 AM Hey are you talking about me? LOL!!! I am on a quest to find out how I am going to do this T25. Was looking around bunch of forums and stumbled upon this one. Dwayne thanks for helping out. Oh and I called Turbonetics and they kind of lagged on giving me a response but they said they can get it but don't know how long its going to take and also they quoted me some ridiculous price.
SucKit 12-02-2001, 01:11 PM Quickzeek, you live in TX so wouldnt Majestic turbo be a good idea? My bro got his turbo done there and its a one day turnaround for all turbos.
How about just fixing the oil seal? If you have a T25 that is leaking a little oil out the compressor side how much would that be to fix?
unlucky 12-02-2001, 06:50 PM you should get the bearings replaced when it starts leaking...you can get a kit to do it, but I'd let someone else handle it. they can balance everything and clean it all up.
Seems like the cost to rebuild is about the same as finding another T25 in good shape. Anyone know of places that you can just trade up a leaky turbo for an equal one thats not leaky and some cash?
unlucky 12-03-2001, 02:27 AM We've got one at the shop that came off of a motor with 12K miles on it. We swapped it off of a DET in favor of a T04B...:) There's no shaft play at all, and no leaks. I'll take some pics if you're interested. The price is 450.00...Firm.
QuickZeek 12-03-2001, 09:21 AM Actually I have a friend that works for Majestic Turbo.
You need to understand that for a nomal rebuild they do not replace the Wheels. The DET T-25 is not a normal turbo. If Turbo
City is having trouble finding a wheel than anywhere you go you will have trouble.
Yeah Tony I started this to try and find some answers.

On a t-25 its not hard to replace just the seals.
but to do it you will have to remove the Compressor wheel. and if you don't mark the wheel to shaft you will have a problem getting back together because it wont be ballanced. But if you mark it you should be fine. After you take the nut off make a small mark on the wheel and shaft. But be warned the DET t-25 has a HUGE Snap ring to take the compressor housing off. If you just want to replace seals then this is the only side to remove.
Cool! :) Where can I get the seal(s) from? About how much are they? Besides getting the thing open, how does one remove and replace the seals? Is it monkeywork or brain surgery?
QuickZeek 12-03-2001, 09:27 AM do you have AIM?
If so IM me @ QuickZeek
CharlieH98 12-04-2001, 02:47 PM Can they put a T3 compressor wheel on it? Just an idea I picked up from the RX7 boys. WTF do I know?
